The Basketball Operations Seasonal Assistant will be the proactive gatekeeper of all Pro-Scouting processes, which includes ensuring the efficient operation of scouting logistics, report management, data management and other basketball operation tasks.

What You Will Do

Key Responsibilities and Principles: Be Proactive, Be Organized, Be Available

• Categorizing / Editing Report Data:
• Review and edit all scouting reports to ensure quality control.
• Proofread for accuracy and completeness.
• Track and categorize reports to maintain a clear understanding of the coverage on each prospect.
• Ensure reports are systematically categorized in a way that is useful for the Pro Scouting Department.
• Ticketing and Credential Management:
• Prearrange parking, tickets, and credentials for each Scout at every game or event.
• Ensure scouts have seamless access to venues, maximizing their time for pre-game meetings with coaches and general preparation.
• Meeting Documentation:
• Take detailed notes at all meetings, capturing all key information and decisions.
• Distribute notes to relevant parties, ensuring those not present are kept informed and providing another perspective for those in attendance to reflect on their contributions.
• Provide the Front Office with additional data points on players discussed during meetings.
• Scout Support (First Responder):
• Act as the first point of contact for scouts needing assistance with travel, administrative, IT, or other operational matters.
• Answer calls and address any issues that arise quickly and efficiently to ensure scouts remain focused on their primary responsibilities.
• Identify and Address Gaps in Scouting:
• By closely monitoring reports, identify areas where scouting coverage is lacking.
• Alert the Head of Pro-Scouting or the scouts themselves to these gaps, ensuring that no prospects are overlooked, and that scouting coverage is comprehensive.
• Calendar and Event Management:
• Organize and manage calendars for scouting events beyond just college games, such as tournaments, showcases, and other relevant basketball activities.
• Communicate these events to the Head of Pro-Scouting and help assign scouts to ensure full event coverage.

What We Need From Our Basketball Operations Seasonal Assistant

• Organization: Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, crucial for managing multiple tasks and ensuring scouting processes are well-coordinated.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across various departments and personnel.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly adapt to changes, address issues as they arise, and provide solutions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Collaboration: Capable of working both independently and as part of a team, while proactively taking on individual responsibilities.

Technical Skills

• Microsoft Office Proficiency: Strong command of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is essential.
• Sports Database Experience: Experience with sports-related databases and information management is a plus. Strong use of film editing software and other film services. (Synergy, InStat, Second Spectrum).

Experience/ Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business, or a related field (preferred but not required).
• Prior experience in sports operations, scouting, or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
