in Demorest and Athens, Georgia.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President
for Finance and Administration, the Director of Finance and Controller is a key leadership position and plays a critical role in overseeing
the financial operations of the university. The Director is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to the Accounting
Office, Grants, Student Accounts, and Financial Aid. The Director will lead and manage the budget, accounting, and business operations for
the college’s operating budget, ensuring that policies, systems, and procedures are in place to support effective daily operations as well
as proving a high level of customer service. This position has functional responsibility over accounting, cash management, and investment
management.
The role of the Director of Finance and Controller is a leadership position and requires excellent interpersonal skills
and possess an attitude of continuous improvement and operational excellence. The Director will identify and implement best practices for
the department and will evaluate and manage performance, staying abreast of emerging trends and bring innovation to the university.
The incumbent is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to the Accounting Office, Grants, Student Accounts, and
Financial Aid. This position ensures that all reporting to both internal and external affiliates is accurate and submitted in a timely
manner. The Director will also provide assistance to other areas under Finance & Administration, as needed.
Develop and implement financial strategies, policies and procedures to
support the university’s overall mission and goals.
Collaborate with senior leadership to establish financial goals and
objectives and provide guidance on financial decision-making.
Monitor and analyze financial trends, risks and opportunities, and make
recommendations for improvements.
Provide leadership and direction to the Accounting Office, Student Accounts, and Financial Aid.
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant
regulations.
Manage internal and external audits, and work to address any findings or recommendations.
Provide leadership and
direction to Student Accounts, including billing, collections and student financial services.
Develop and implement policies and
procedures related to student tuition, fees and refunds, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
Regular and
predictable attendance is required.
On-site work is required.
Incumbents must remain relevant in the area of employment and
flexible to changes in work related to institutional needs.
Education and Experience
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. MBA or Master’s degree strongly
preferred.
of 10 years of accounting experience including a minimum of 5 years directly related experience overseeing accounting and
finance operations, including staff management. Strong understanding of GAAP, FASB standards, Fund Accounting, and Internal Controls.
Higher education or 501c3/Non-profit experience preferred.
Licenses and Certification
Certified
Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
Valid Georgia Driver’s License (or obtained within 30 days of hire date) and satisfactory
MVR.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Advanced Excel skills along with a strong working
knowledge of Microsoft applications.
Ability to collect, organize and analyze data.
Ability to adapt to different
types of software programs.
Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is imperative.
Excellent oral and written
communications skills.Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
Ability to create a positive working environment

Essential functions and
responsibilities of this position are performed in an inside environmental condition, where there is protection from weather conditions but
not necessarily temperature changes. Essential functions and responsibilities require light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force
occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm
and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated
for Light Work.
Essential functions and responsibilities require incumbents to: climb or ascend and descend stairs or ramps using
feet and legs; stoop by bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist; kneel by bending legs to come to rest on
knee or knees; crouch by bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine; reach or extend hands and arms in any direction;
stand by remaining upright on the feet; walk or move about on foot to accomplish tasks; lift by raising objects from a lower to a higher
position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position; finger, grasp, or feel objects; talk to exchange and express ideas; and
to hear to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels.
Incumbents must have close visual acuity to perform activities
such as extensive reading and operating computers and other office equipment.
