Job Summary: The HR Manager is responsible for all HR functions at the Laurinburg plant including payroll, training & development, employee relations, communication and recruitment.
Primary Duties:
Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
Maintains Human Resource Information System records and compiles reports from database.
Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
Manages FMLA administration.
Responsible for communication process within the Laurinburg Plant
Support the training and development of employees
New hire orientation for both hourly & salaried employees
Identify training problems within the process, product or system and develop solutions.
Any required legal training
Ethics and compliance training.
Coordinate and lead all Succession Planning activities
Support the training and job assignment process.
Supervise HR Generalist
Manage all employee events sponsored by the plant.
Participates in daily production meetings and attends other meetings and seminars. Maintains site organization charts and site directory.
Support Corporate training initiatives/requirement
Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of employee issues and positive relationship with team members in efforts to support a team-based environment.
Coordinates the interviewing, hiring, selection and onboarding of hourly and exempt team members.
Oversee benefits and payroll administration for bargaining unit and salaried employees. Ensure issues are resolved timely and within established contract or plan guidelines.
Prepare headcount, turnover, attendance, and other reports as requested by local and business line managers.
Serves as a site back up for UltiPro and managing payroll approval, oversight and employee payroll changes via Ultipro. Working closely with corporate payroll personnel.
Support safety initiatives and processes to eliminate serious injuries.
Perform exit interviews and monitor trends for retention issues.
Adherence to the NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its’ Values and Principles
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, business, or related field.
3-5 years progressive experience in Human Resources, preferably in manufacturing environment.
Experienced with union facilities
Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
Ability to facilitate groups in an employee involvement environment.
Knowledge of applicable State and Federal employment laws.
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Qualifications Desired:
Either S/PHR or SHRM S/CP Certification.
Experience with Ultimate Software
