Job Description

This position serves as a lead person for daily functional shipment transactions for Pixelle’s Stevens Point Mill. Position will effectively perform all the functions of transportation planning using the Mercury Gate Transportation System and SAP for the mill, WSI outside warehouse, convertors, or customers. Will plan shipments of orders for transportation on rail, full truck, pool truck, inter-modal, and LTL to consistently meet delivery dates while controlling transportation costs. Will work closely with customer service, shipping coordinators and corporate logistics to provide timely and accurate shipments and communications.

• Create load plans within OptiVision, SAP and Mercury Gate load planning systems.
• Utilize Corporate Distribution/Load Center as needed for assistance or problem resolution.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with truck carriers, customer service, and customers.
• Work with carriers to obtain cost efficient shipment rates for customers and mill.
• Provide carriers and customers with all information necessary to make process efficient and effective.
• Utilize reporting systems to review inventory daily for available shipments.
• Shipping communication link between Shipping Coordinators, PS&D Supervisors, and Customer Service.
• Work with tracking software to ensure on time pickup and delivery to customer.
• Perform monthly Safety Audits and hazard recognitions checks to help maintain a safe work environment.
• Engage team members in safety conversations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 2 years proven experience in Transportation, Logistics Planning or Shipping Operations OR
• Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Supervisory experience desired.
• Must possess strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Self-starter with high motivation level who can adapt to a changing work environment.
• Must be very detail orientated and be able to make decisions with speed and accuracy.
• Must be able to handle and prioritize multiple time-sensitive projects and issues.
• Proficiency with various software applications (SAP, OptiVision, Mercury Gate, and Microsoft Office)
• Candidate must possess the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, both hourly and management.
