JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the operation, performance and availability of all Linux systems throughout the organization.This position will take ownership for of all of the Linux systems including updates, migrations, system builds, support, and problem resolution. The primary focus will be on RedHat but other operating systems may be encountered. Additional support for Windows OS will also be part of the day to day role. Must possess hands on ability to execute creative solutions to complex problems. Must be able to balance the ability to work independently and be a part of a high performance team. Professionally interact with user groups while keeping Information Services management fully appraised of the status of his/her projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:

· Build and maintain Linux systems for both production and non-production.

· Application support for Apache.

· Managing RedHat Satellite.

· Performance and tuning of Linux infrastructure.

· Setup, configure, and monitoring of Linux infrastructure.

· Implementation and enforcing standards throughout Linux infrastructure and documentation.

· Review and maintenance of daily jobs.

· Security and hardening of Linux infrastructure.

• Proactively provide management recommendations for budgeting and business plans
• Problem resolution: Troubleshoot and diagnose problem relating to TCP/IP, certificates, SNMP, AD Joins, while documenting root cause and performing corrective action
• Document and diagram in Visio current and future expansion of systems and network through thoughtful analysis and review.
• Analyze Linux servers for possible issues.
• Work in conjunction with third party vendors to expedite resolution.
• Manage ESXi servers and VM’s as needed.
• Ability to work on Windows servers as needed.
• Provide any required support on various Linux Distros as needed in conjunction with various groups.
• Develop a working knowledge of the business side of PFFCU and be able to interface effectively with all user areas.
• Ability to work with PHP and websites and perform system maintenance.
• Perform systems analysis of all softwarehardware modification including vendor software releasespatches and user requests for change in a timely and proactive manner
• Demonstrate an understanding of the business impact of these changes and be able to coherently explain and relate their impact to the affected user community.

· Researching, planning, designing, and implementing Linux solutions.

· Revising and updating IT departmental procedures as it applies to telecom systems scheduling, tuning and maintenance.

· Documenting internal support processes and procedures.

· Designing and implementing processes to ensure high availability of all systems and take immediate control of production problems and drive them to resolution

· Working closely with all teams in technology on projects of all scopes, including complex and cross-functional efforts

· Working with the Servers & Systems Manager and Senior IS Management to determine departmental priorities

· When appropriate engaging outside contractors with proper technical expertise

· Ensuring timely completion of projects and deployments in conjunction with the Business Plan.

· Other duties as assigned by the Servers & Systems Manager and Senior IS Management

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years hands on Linux experience (design and implementation)
• 2+ years Windows OS & ESXi/vCenter as it relates to servers
• A solid understanding of Linux RedHat servers using command line.
• Project management skills a must
• Bachelor’s degree in technical field; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
• Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills
• Must possess knowledge of monitoring technologiesmethods relating to telecom systems
• Must possess a high level of comfort with debugging complex issues
• Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to work independently and with a team in a highly customer-focused environment

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Strong project skills required, specifically the ability to maintain focus and complete projects with multi-month timeframes
• Worked with third party service provider
• RHEL Experience in an enterprise environment
• Apache experience
• Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time

· Solid troubleshooting skills

• Ability to think logically and visualize abstract concepts

· Ability to clearly communicate technical information to individuals at all levels of the organization and with vendors

• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• OnCall rotation
• Ability to work varying hours, sometimes includes evening and weekend work
