Job Description We are seeking a Commercial Loan Specialist to join our Ponce Mortgage team Position details: Classified as hourly, non-exempt Position located in Jackson Heights, NY Impact Improves Banks financial position. Responsibilities Provide support with loan inquiries, loan applications and the overall loan origination process, working closely with Loan Officers, Brokers and Borrowers, to assure compliance, efficiency and adding value to the department. Essential Functions Preliminary evaluation of commercial/multi-family real estate mortgage loan inquiries by reviewing and analyzing financial accounting data, legal documents, contracts, proposals, public information, market research and other records and documents to assist in the completion of the financial credit analysis. Review new loan applications to insure proper completion and submission of required financial information to facilitate financial credit analysis. Obtain additional information or documents that may be required for the application. Work with loan originators, underwriters, brokers and borrowers to obtain documentation required for underwriting and thereafter closing commercial real estate loans. Track loan application and closing pipeline and prepare various related reports. Maintain loan application files and distribute them to assigned counterparts. Provide some office support (filing, scanning, email/mail correspondence, etc.). Coordinate with main office to ensure that all documentation needed to order 3rd party reports has been obtained. Ancillary Functions Ability and desire to learn quickly and attention to detail. Strong initiative, self-motivation and ability to work in teams. Communicate effectively with various teams within the Bank. Performing various duties to support the commercial lending, and underwriting functions; coordinating work within the department, as well as with other departments; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; and responding to inquiries or requests for information. Mandatory Training Curricula Training is required of all Bank staff as related to regulatory mandated compliance topics and courses required for specific job functions. Competencies (refer to Competencies Library) Skills Clearly communicates in English (verbal and written); interpersonal skills and ability to proactively interact with various departments within the organization; keen analytical and decision making skills; organizational skills with the ability to multi task; proficient PC skills, including Microsoft Office and Salesforce; visual and auditory skills; ability to sit, stand, and walk; general knowledge of commercial and multi-family real estate loans Physical Demands The physical and related demands described in this section are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job is mostly sedentary in nature, but may occasionally involve lifting files and other materials that weigh up to 20 lbs. Employees in this job must be able to work in an office environment during regular business hours where they come into regular and frequent contact with internal and external customers and other members of the public. Therefore, employees in this position are expected to have consistently positive interactions with the public. Education/Training Bachelors degree with an emphasis in Business, Finance or related field. Experience A minimum of two (2) years’ related experience normally required.
