Overview

• PCS seeks ENTRY and EXPERIENCED level INSTALLERS for fiber optic and copper cable installation of inside and outside communication projects. PCS also performs AERIAL installation of fiber optic cable and OPGW. PCS follows industry best practices and safety conscious techniques. This position will include cable and device installation in interior and outdoor environments.

• Multiple position openings are available in ALL PCS FL offices. PCS has major corporate and engineering offices in Jupiter, Orlando & Tampa Florida. Other regional offices include Vero Beach, Fort Myers, Coconut Creek Florida as well as Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Job Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license, a clean record and be insurable with our auto insurance carrier during course of employment. CDL drivers are a plus.
• The characteristics required to fill this position is of a self-starter that is task and detail oriented, a logical person with excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to interface and communicate with co workers and customers clearly and effectively.
• Ability to work in all types of construction areas, terrain and hazards (building shells, fenced – interior elevated floor – outdoor roadway construction zones) in public and private property (client offices, construction sites, highways, industrial, private property, etc.) and all types of weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift 85lbs with the help of another, climb ladders, work with heights up to 30 feet, and in tight or enclosed spaces.
• Must be available for evening & weekend work on occasion.
• The work can take place on new construction sites or existing occupied facilities and may include carrying and moving parts and equipment.
• Accurately and consistently wear safety gear, and operate safety equipment provided.
• Job Requires travel throughout the South East United States. PCS requires men to room 2 to a room when traveling in Company provided hotels/short term lodging.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Ability to install and troubleshooting skills for installation of fiber optic, copper and wireless communication projects as necessary.
• Outdoor aerial Installation of Fiber Optic Cable, OPGW, Span Wire and necessary hardware. This requires operation of a Bucket Truck, Lasher, and climbing poles manually with hooks. Must have the ability to climb up to the Bucket Truck platform – access the bucket and climb in and out of the bucket.
• Outdoor underground installation of Cable and/or Tracer wire including pullboxes, manholes, innerduct, MaxCell and conduit. This requires operation of FO Tugger Machine and/or FO Blower & Compressor, or installation of cable by hand.
• Interior Installation of Cable in cable tray, conduits or free wire in risers or ceiling. This process includes organizing, forming, dressing and labeling cables to industry standards in outlets, fire stopping, cabinets and racks.

• Follow direction of the Jobsite Foreman, Superintendent, and/or Area Manager for project schedules, materials, equipment, and crews.

• Ability to read and understanding of building / construction plans and specifications.
• Physical ability to push/pull, hang, lift and carry cables and pathways including pipes, spans, hand holes and other industry hardware.
• Ability to learn accurate termination and testing of copper and fiber optic cables to industry certification parameters utilizing appropriate test equipment.

• Identify, troubleshoot and correct pathway problems. Removal and demolition of abandoned cables.
• Ability to learn and apply industry standards including ANSI, EIA/TIA, and local and National Electric Code.
• Labeling at all access and end points of cables to company and industry standards.
• Effectively operate hand and power tools. Maintenance and cleaning of equipment and machinery when needed.
• Working in all types of weather conditions is a requirement, heat or cold. Rain and Snow will normally cause the project to be shut down by the Agency having Jurisdiction; however, PCS will continue to work in the event the AHJ does not cease operations on the jobsite. Job production is not determined by weather conditions.
• In the event of bad weather days employees are NOT paid if they cannot work.

Education & Certifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Appropriate college work, vocational or technical training program in CATV or broadband industry is a plus.
• Other recognized certifications that would be a plus would include BICSI, IMSA, ETA, Maintenance of Traffic, Forklift, OSHA and CPR.

Compensation

• $17-22 per hour, DOE
