The role of the Shipping and Receiving Lead encompasses the responsibilities of a team leader, primarily focused on supervising ground-level operations. This includes the meticulous oversight of the team’s accuracy in selecting items for shipment to customers. The Lead is also responsible for scrutinizing itemized lists of incoming goods, verifying their correct quantity, and ensuring their intact and undamaged arrival. Furthermore, the Shipping and Receiving Lead functions as the eyes of the Plant Manager on the operational floor, maintaining a constant vigil to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe workspace. Any identified equipment malfunctions are promptly reported, and the Lead may be called upon to provide feedback on team performance to the management. Additionally, participation in the inventorying of stored goods for accounting purposes is an expected duty within the purview of a Shipping and Receiving Lead.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner
• Oversee data system for storage and tracking of goods and shipments
• Verifies the items against the record of shipment and examines their condition upon arrival. Rejects unsatisfactory items
• Routes material throughout the stockroom and production areas
• Sorts, counts, and checks raw materials, finished, and semi-finished parts
• Fills orders from requisitions and maintains the necessary clerical records
• Required to prepare and package materials for shipment
• Prepares records of goods shipped and bills of lading
• Compares identifying information on outgoing shipments against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records
• Posts weight and shipping charges and maintains shipping record files
• Prepares boxes and cartons for shipment of parts
• Operates forklift and prepare goods for final shipment
• Maintains record keeping system
• Maintains shipping/ receiving equipment and prepares purchase requisitions for necessary supplies
• Maintains finished parts inventory and parts stockroom
• Responsible for part labeling and bagging/tagging
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations
• Provides constant feedback and input into process improvement within the department
• Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures
• Ability to perform basic mathematical computations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
• Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions
• Communicates thoughts and ideas, both verbally and in writing, to co-workers and management
• Attends scheduled meetings and actively participates by providing meaningful input
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Education And Experience

• Ability to understand basic administrative and clerical techniques
• One-year preferred experience and /or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• High school diploma or GED required
• Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language

Physical Job Requirements

• Regularly required to stand and reach the duration of shift, 8-10 hours
• Frequently required to perform repetitive or short-cycles work
• Regularly lift, push, or pull up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision in which 20/20 or corrected vision to 20/20 vision is required
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
• Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles resulting from metalworking coolants and oils
• Frequently exposed to warm/hot parts and machine sparks
• The noise level in the work environment is generally loud in which hearing protection is required
