An award-winning consultancy located in Austin, Texas and Singapore, Produktworks Design provides high-value creative services related to technology product development. We excel at finding solid, reliable solutions to complex design and engineering problems.
We are looking for a talented individual who has an inordinate (and inexplicable) passion for product design. We want people who can jump in with both feet and make us even better at what we do.
If you’re looking for a staid, predictable environment, we’re probably not the right company for you. If you’re looking for a 9-to-5 job, we’re probably not the right company for you. If you thrive on being challenged and pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone, while having fun doing so, we might just be what you’re looking for! Let’s do some great work together.
Description
We are looking for a mechanical engineer with 1-4 years (+/- 0.5) of experience with an inordinate (and inexplicable) passion for product development.
You need to have ninja-like CAD skills; knowing SOLIDWORKS and/or PTC CREO chops is crucial. Have both and you are already one of our favorite people in the world. You can create complex surfaces without breaking a sweat and Top-Down Design is already ingrained into your psyche. If Illustrator, KeyShot and Photoshop are not foreign to you, we’re already off to a good start.
You must at least have a BSME (or equivalent) from a good engineering program. You are an excellent and effective communicator, and you know how to manage clients’ expectations. You do not write long, rambling emails.
You need to know plastics design and injection molding like the stats from your favorite ball player. You know how to create a sheet metal part that actually unfolds. You know how to run a prototype build. Have automation equipment or other complex mechanical systems design experience? You’ve got our attention!
If you have at least a year of design firm experience, you understand what we need. You should be willing to work late nights/weekends/public holidays when we’re busy. You should be willing to go for Happy Hour on a Wednesday afternoon when we’re not.
We juggle. A lot. Metaphorically, of course. Literally? That’s up to you. You should be able to plan and prioritize what’s on your plate at any one time.
The Job
This will be a 3-6-month contract-to-hire position. We want to find the right person who will be a good long-term fit and also to ensure that we are the right fit for you. This is a two-way street after all.
Relocation negotiable upon full-time offer. Texas-based applicants will have priority. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer H-1B sponsorship at this time.
Don’t just send a resume. Impress us. Send us pretty pictures of the work you’ve done in the past. Write a thoughtful cover letter and pretend like you studied our website (We’ll know if you didn’t). Make your case at [email protected].
