The Project Controls Specialist – Staff is responsible for the implementation of project controls methodology, procedures and tools as well as special/customized requirements established by the District’s initiatives and programs. Contributes to the development and implementation of program specific procedures and reports in support of specific initiative/program needs that are beyond the scope of but consistent with Project Controls methodology standards.
Provides day to day support of project managers in the planning, execution, and reporting, closeout, and lessons learned. Assists Project Managers in the use of methods, procedures and tools. Supports Financial Analysts in reviewing project performance status and results and resolving project cost issues. Incumbent keeps abreast of new technologies and discipline specific trends and developments. Proactively applies new trend information/knowledge to all work assignments. Receives moderate supervision that includes instructions on complex features and/or assignments.
Employment Guidelines:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline such as management, business, or business systems and 4+ years’ experience that demonstrates measurable career and technical progression that can be applied to Project Controls support of the District’s initiatives and programs, functional projects, and business processes. Total experience includes 2+ years of substantial project controls experience.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Licenses / Certifications:
Valid State of Florida Driver’s License is required.
Physical Requirements / Working Environment:
Due to the District’s response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.
