Communications Division, Broadband Deployment Branch:

The Commission develops and implements policies for the communications industry in California, including ensuring fair, affordable universal access to necessary services, developing clear rules to allow flexibility without compromising due process, and removing barriers to competition. The Communications Division plays a central role in implementing the Governor’s recent signing of Senate Bill 156 (Chapter 112, Statutes of 2021), which authorizes $6 billion to be spent on closing California’s Digital Divide. The SB 156 Broadband Infrastructure Package includes $2 billion to build last-mile infrastructure to provide Californians with access to high-speed broadband service.
The Federal Funding Account, administered by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), is a $2 billion grant program for last-mile broadband infrastructure projects to connect unserved Californians. in accordance with 2021’s Senate Bill 156. Under the direction of the Program & Project Supervisor, the PURA II will work as part of team of analysts to:
