The City of Pacific Grove is recruiting for a part-time (20 hours weekly) Recreation Program Supervisor. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of recreation programming experience with considerable knowledge of recreation philosophy, operations and administration; which includes leading and/or assisting in the development of comprehensive youth afterschool and day camp activities. In addition, the candidate should have the ability to: plan, coordinate and lead a variety of creative games, arts & crafts and indoor/outdoor play; supervise, train and instruct part-time recreation assistants; enforce rules, regulations and department policies; communicate effectively with participants, parents and community members.
Preference may be given to candidates with education, training and experience in childhood development, recreation administration and/or liberal studies.
Individuals should be available to work week days after 3:00 PM from August – May and lead day camp programs during Pacific Grove Unified School District school breaks and summer months.
Under general supervision, provides group and individual leadership and instruction in recreation activities; oversees program curriculum, monitors program activities, and assures safe and appropriate recreational programs are provided for the community.
