Current Vacancy Information:
There is one (1) vacancy with the Department of Parks and Recreation, Park Maintenance and Recreation Services Division. Position is located at Kualoa Regional Park. Work hours are Monday – Friday, 9:00AM – 5:45PM (SUBJECT TO CHANGE). Under the general supervision of the Recreation Specialist II, this position independently performs professional work in planning, organizing, and directing a comprehensive city-wide camping and environmental educational program for Kualoa Regional Park that includes Hawaiiana and other culturally relevant programs in keeping with the expanding needs of the community. The position also serves as a city-wide consultant on outdoor education and recreation.
Special Work Requirements: May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Will serve as a Disaster Response worker during declared emergencies.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited college or university with specialization in recreation, physical education, group work or a related field.
Such experience must have demonstrated the knowledge of the policies, principles, plans, tools and techniques of recreation; instructional methods, plans, procedures and techniques; in-service training methods; policies, principles, plans tools and techniques of the specialty area of recreation; and the ability to plan, organize, promote, administer, and evaluate recreational activities and programs; lead, direct, conduct and instruct participants in the recreational specialty; and prepare reports.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT:
Prior to completion of probation, possession of a valid:
1) American Red Cross Standard First Aid Certificate, or equivalent; andÂ
Any required licenses and certificates must be obtained by the time indicated above, and maintained throughout the course of employment in the position.Â
