Recruiting Heroes is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Supply Chain Manager to serve our startup client in Houston, Texas. This is a full-time, on-site position.
The Purpose
The Supply Chain & Logistics Manager is a critical member of leadership and will manage the supply chain process, identify qualified suppliers while managing the supply chain and logistics department personnel. One of the most important steps in managing the design of the Supply Chain network is find the right suppliers, and once found how to ensure that they maintain their performance levels. This is a major area of responsibility and extremely critical to the manufacturing process.
The Position
The Supply Chain & Logistics Manager will be responsible for coordinating, organizing, and overseeing all activities involved in the identification, acquisition, production, and distribution of the companys manufactured product. In addition, the Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for the development and creation of Value Stream Maps – which is the major step in the process to develop a tiered supplier system. Once a Supply Chain network has been designed and optimized, there are changes that will inevitably have to be addressed. So, the Supply Chain Manager must be willing and capable of taking the steps to continually improve the network. MetOx is a startup company and the Supply Chain Manager will require hands on implementation of procurement systems that do not yet exist.
The Duties
The Supply Chain & Logistics Manager will work to plan, control, and implement the storage and flow of products, material, information, or services for the overall efficiency of the supply chain process as well as managing buyers and stockroom personnel. Logistically they will ensure that products, inventory, or parts move from one place to another efficiently and cost-effectively.
Essential Support Functions
- Inventory storage setup
- Inventory Control
- Material Purchasing (International/Global) order, receive, storage, and dispatch
- Source and Procure manufacturing equipment spare parts
- Source Vendors
- Logistics; shipping and receiving
- Configuration and implementation of NetSuites procurement module
The Responsibilities
The Supply Chain & Logistics Manager will be expected to perform a variety of additional roles from time to time, including:
- Identify and Qualify Suppliers
- Maintain required quantity of supplies and materials for production
- Analyze current inventories, lead-times, usage rates and implement restocking systems to maintain minimum stock quantities
- Negotiate commercial terms and prices with suppliers and logistics companies
- Oversee product shipping from acquisition to delivery
- Manage Stockroom and materials handling personnel
- Manage buyers
- Correspond with clients, suppliers, warehouses, and transportation hubs to ensure efficiency
- Select carriers and negotiate contracts and rates
- Plan and monitor inbound and outgoing deliveries
- Research ideal shipping techniques, routing, and carriers
- Identify and implement automated procurement system
The Qualifications
The Supply Chain & Logistics Manager must possess:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing supply chain and logistic activities in a manufacturing company
- Solid understanding of logistics and inventory management software
- Experience with NetSuite financial management system preferred
- Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to lead and manage teams and projects
- Organization, time management, prioritizing and the ability to handle a complex, varied workload
- Lean manufacturing experience. Kanban systems, supermarkets, material handling and just in time replenishment.
