The HR Generalist provides comprehensive administrative support to daily operations of human resources and payroll functions. The HR Generalist works closely with all departments in achieving organizational goals and objectives through effective customer focused HR and Payroll support services. The HR Generalist is a positive team player that promotes a culture of inclusion and participation.
The HR Generalist will play a key role in developing employee relations, including trainings for Supervisors and other staff, through handling complaints, investigations and recommending any corrective actions. The HR Generalist will play an active role in benefits planning, administration and auditing. The HR Generalist will handle items connected to payroll including but not limited to plan benefits and FMLA/LOA tracking. The HR Generalist must have the ability to prioritize projects and demonstrate results through a variety of methods including collecting/analyzing data. This position has strong attention detail skills and is always customer service driven.
Payroll
· Processes payroll for bi-weekly and monthly schedules in Paycom, submits time records to the temporary agency for their payroll, and generates reports for accounting as needed
· Responsible for the coordination efforts between payroll, human resources, budget and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data (including preparation/distribution of detailed reports, e.g. labor” home” work, overtime, leave balances, and retirement contribution reports)
· Handles the administration of the electronic timekeeping system
· Records changes affecting new wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update the master payroll records
· Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes and deductions
· Responsible for specific areas of payroll activities for processing of payroll and changes to payroll (W-4 changes, retro pay, direct deposit changes, garnishments, or levies)
· Compiles, maintains and updates various spreadsheets to verify payroll data properly balances to reports and is responsible for quarterly and monthly reporting
· Ensures compliance with company practices as well as federal, state, and local tax and wage regulations.
· Assists employees with electronic payroll access and guidelines
· Serve as a point of contact for payroll relation questions, inquiries, and concerns
Employee Relations/Training
· Employee Relation activities include but not limited to: answering questions, complaint investigation and resolution, and recommending countermeasures or corrective actions, if needed
· Tracks associate attendance and issues corrective actions as needed
· Assists Managers or Supervisors in personnel corrective actions, if needed
· Provides guidance on policies and procedures to all employees
· Leads HR activities such as performance evaluations, compensation planning, and benchmarking wages
· Participates in HR planning, practices, training and development meetings; monitors legal updates and collaborates internally to identify opportunities for best practices, efficiency and continuous improvement
· Monitor employee attendance and communicate with managers and supervisors on any disciplinary actions, if needed.
· Implements monthly perfect attendance PTO bonus
· Assists with the coordination of employee activities and company events
· Oversees supervisor payroll training; recommending best practices as well as updating to stay current with state and federal laws
Benefits & Leave Administration
· Maintains documentation and acts as the primary contact for benefits administration including medical, dental, life, disability, 401K, Cobra, flexible spending and wellness initiatives
· Coordinates with broker to ensure a successful open enrollment and assists employees in benefits enrollment period
· Ensures all benefit selections and 401k loans/payoffs are entered for accurate payroll processing and reporting
· Acts as the lead on ACA compliance reporting; staying up to date on Affordable Care Act and HIPAA laws
· Prepares benefits reporting and analysis; recommending countermeasures or changes if needed
· Conducts audits of company benefit plans or other HR programs and recommends any corrective action to ensure department is in compliance with any benefit laws or regulations
Recruitment/Onboarding
· Assists HR Assistant Manager with posting job openings internally/externally, interviewing, scoring and selection
· Handles onboarding activities such as background checks, pre-employment physical/drug screens and assists HR Assistant Manager with new hire orientation and placement
· Processes unemployment claims and manages the appeals processes
· Coordinates with Managers for temporary production labor needs and works with local agencies to fill those orders
