Advisor – Environment
About the role
We are looking for an Advisor – Environment to join the Kennecott Environment Team. The Advisor – Environment will assist the team in providing a wide array of technical support related to day-to-day air quality, waste management, and other regulatory matters for on-site operations at the Kennecott Smelter. This role is a great opportunity to gain exposure to a large and complex mining operation and build professional skills set.
Reporting to the Principal Advisor – Air, Regulatory & Compliance, you will be coordinating with plants and projects in a heavily regulated and highly complex US regulatory setting, including but not limited to:

Rio Tinto Kennecott is a fully integrated mining operation located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, US. Kennecott is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rio Tinto. For more than 120 years, Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich orebody of the Bingham Canyon Mine. Kennecott is a strong economic driver and strives to be a valuable community partner through strategic partnerships, charitable giving and sustainable development practices. Kennecott spans over 20 miles from the Bingham Canyon Mine at the south end of the Salt Lake Valley to the Smelter and Refinery on the north end of the valley. This role will be located at the Smelter facility.
