About the role
As the National Director of Development you’ll be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive revenue growth to support the organization’s impact objectives. You will manage the nationwide fundraising team responsible for engaging national and regional partners in meaningful and profitable relationships that lead to increased financial support and be comfortable collaborating across the organization to contribute to our revenue goals of over $27 million. You will work to coach and elevate existing staff fundraising prowess and relationship-building to strengthen the capacity of account teams thereby deepening engagement with key donors towards increased and multi-year gifts. This position will act as a key member of the Leadership Team that is responsible for operationalizing the organization’s goals in the achievement of our Strategic Plan and increasing the collaboration between functions.
Who Are You
You’re a seasoned development professional with over seven years of experience in developing strategic fundraising strategies with a proven track record of exceeding financial targets. You have an established track record of successfully developing and implementing strategies to drive revenue. Multi-tasking comes second-nature to you and you’re able to successfully manage and foster meaningful relationships across multiple teams. You have prior experience aligning and elevating team members to achieve goals. You have an understanding of our mission and want to use your skills to strengthen the impact of Rise Against Hunger’s efforts!
About the Team
The Development Team works as the muscle of Rise Against Hunger through building lasting donor relationships with individuals and organizations. The development team focuses on fund development and fundraising and uses CRM’s to report on and track the clients that we have secured. The team is able to directly impact the communities served by Rise Against Hunger with the donations and connections they build.
What You Will Own and Improve
Development Strategy & Execution: You will be responsible for managing and coaching all fundraising staff in support of their professional growth and development and consistently provide consistent feedback through one-on-one coaching sessions and monthly Performance Check-Ins.You will lead the formulation and implementation of development strategy in support of organizational goals through leveraging the resources available to you including your development team, board of directors and internal team leaders. You will work closely with the Director of Community Engagement to grow an organization-wide fundraising program leveraging both regional and national strategies to attract and manage new prospect accounts and guide the strategic growth of revenue contributed to the organization. You will also partner with both the Chief Development officer and the Director of Development Operations to design and implement fundraising engagement strategies with a focus on increasing and diversifying revenue. You will visit with prospective donors to solicit support and collaborate with your team members to manage followup activities.
People Leadership & Development: You will lead the team in identifying and prioritizing prospects and deepen engagement with key accounts, facilitating regular Development and Community Engagement team accountability and progress toward fundraising goals. You will guide and develop your team, empowering them to meet individual and shared fundraising goals. You will inspire a philanthropic spirit across the organization, allowing every staff member to contribute to fundraising goals.
