Staff Accountant Wanted for Growing Fort Pierre Company
You will play a key role in managing the finances of our businesses, creating financial transactions, generating relevant reports, along with interacting with vendors and customers. You will work with our accounting firm, Rent Manager and the owners to gain oversight and to transition into the position. We anticipate some responsibilities will be performed by the accounting firm.
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, thorough, and organized Staff Accountant to join our team. We are looking for the person who can keep the office running like a well-oiled machine, so Jerry and Susan Vogeler can focus on customer service, sales and strategy.
You will manage the day to day financial aspects of our three businesses. Those businesses include a manufactured home rental community along with storage units, a systems-built home sales business, and a farm that also includes a hunting lodge.
Your responsibility regarding the system-built home sales business includes job costing and financial management, accounts receivable and ensuring timely payment of bills and payroll taxes. You will maintain an accurate accounting of revenue and expenses.
You will be the day to day contact for our manufactured home rental community and our storage unit business. You will handle and resolve resident/customer service issues in a timely and professional manner. You will make deposits, pay bills, ensure resident compliance with community rules, ensure customer accounts are current, along with collecting delinquent accounts. You will complete applications, leases, and help screen potential residents by performing background checks.
Your responsibilities for the farm and hunting lodge business will consist of making deposits, paying bills, and maintaining accurate and up to date account balances.

The farm has been in the Vogeler family for over 100 years. The Vogeler Farm also includes a self-guided hunting lodge.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities for this Position Include:
· Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from the businesses.
· Maintains and balances two systems Rent Manager and QuickBooks by inputting data; scheduling required jobs; verifying data.
· Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports, verifying information.
· Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files, reconciling accounts.
· Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts.
· Develops and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures, recommending changes.
· Completes Jobs In Progress Reports, Work in Progress Reports and recommend changes based on data.
· Assist in development of budgets, along with maintaining the annual budget and chart of accounts
· Answer’s accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
· Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
· Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
As well as the Handling the day-to-day Bookkeeping/HR functions for all three businesses. Such as Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Deposit and Record Receipts, Perform all aspects of Employee Payroll, Sales & Use Tax, Contractor’s Excise Tax, Maintaining Insurance Reports, Employee Health Insurance Registration, Maintain Warranty/Service Records and Submit Invoices to Customers and the Factory, and Employee Records.

The right candidate will be open to working Monday thru Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM and receive hour lunches each day worked. Specifics include:
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or two years full-charge bookkeeping experience or a combination of education and experience
· Understand ledgers and be able to handle all aspects of journal entries
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Quick Books, and e-mail is required.
· Working knowledge of Rent Manager software is a plus (training is available)
· A high level of 10-key calculator skills
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills
· Keen attention to detail and ability to keep records and files organized
· Strong time manager with respect for deadlines
· Ability to identify errors and solve problems
· Integrity and strong customer service skills are essential

Compensation Package
· This is a salaried position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week. The compensation range depends on experience of the applicant. The range is $2,500 to $3,200 per two week pay period resulting in an annual salary of $65,000 to $83,000 per year.

· Must be able to safely perform all job functions including the ability to lift/move 10 pounds regularly, regularly use a computer, stand, sit, walk, climb stairs, etc. Must be able to occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds independently, climb a ladder, bend, crawl, reach and grip.
