Rochelle Community Hospital Hiring For Patient Accounts Support Specialist Full Time- In-Office, Temporary Position at Rochelle, IL  Full Time

• Understand and follows Rochelle Community Hospital’s Standard of Excellence document. 
• Greet all guests utilizing excellent guest relation techniques. 
• Display respect and dignity to patients, visitors and staff.  Upholds hospital policies and maintains a code of confidentiality on all patient information.
• Welcome patients and visitors to the hospital and interacts in a customer focused and compassionate manner to ensure patients and guest’s needs are met, that they understand the Hospital’s and Clinic’s revenue cycle expectations.
• Perform appropriately in difficult situations by remaining calm, notifying appropriate personnel and initiating appropriate action for patient accounts receivable resolutions.

Billings:

• Demonstrate proficiency in applying proper billing procedures to perform job functions to ensure timely filing requirements and prompt claim resolution.
• Performs follow up on billed receivables for HB and PB.
• Maintain a working knowledge of medical terminology, ICD10 coding principles as they relate to Evaluation & Management visits, office procedures and hospital visits. Individual is not expected to be a certified coder.
• Accurately records all account activity and follow-up in the patient accounting system including any documentation necessary to be scanned to complete record of account activity during account resolution.

Payments:

• Posts payments sent directly to clinic/receivables.
• Coordinates with hospital payment specialists in posting hospital receivable payments as needed.
• Monitor contractual allowances for both government payers and contracted insurance payers to insure proper discounts are posted. Understand how to interpret physician fee schedules to accurately post discounts.
• Explain charges and payments to patients in a proficient manner to satisfy patient concerns.
• Coordinate efforts to insure daily deposits for the clinic are recorded and sent to the bank daily.
• Reviews receipt postings performed by Athena Corporate to reconcile un-postables and balance to daily deposits.
• Work with RCH Finance Department to balance postings and bank balances.
• Assist in analyzing receivable aging reports and worklists for claim resolution.
• Monitor work lists of claims not billed for claim resolution.  Follow-up on un-paid claims for both hospital and clinic services.  When services cross over to both entities, work both claims simultaneously for payment resolution.
• Must be able to proficiency understand hospital’s and clinic’s receivable system and be able to answer patient inquires related to both hospital and clinic open balances. 
• Maintain CEU requirements for department as outlined in CEU policy.  Must complete annual skills testing to insure knowledge is complete to perform assigned duties.
• Able to work in receivable systems for both Clinic and Hospital proficiently.
• Accepts and performs other duties as assigned. 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education

• High School graduate. 

Experience

• Previous experience (minimum 2 years) working with healthcare receivable and billing. Previous experience working with Athena software requested but not mandatory
• Understand billing requirements for the HCFA 1500 and UB04 billing forms.
• Minimal knowledge of ICD10 and CPT coding helpful.
• Must be able to take initiative and responsibility for actions. 
• Excellent verbal communication skills. Including proper telephone etiquette.
• Visual and hearing acuity pertinent to communication with patients, visitors and staff. 
• Display a positive attitude. Handle conflict situations effectively. 
• Able to perform assigned duties as a team and independently without direct supervision. 
• Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
• Willing to expand knowledge of healthcare receivables with consideration given to professional organization certificates, and/or other continued education opportunities.
