Position Summary:
The Infection Preventionist (IP) Coordinator coordinates infection prevention activities throughout the organization. The IP will implement and coordinate programs in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines, and regulations (i.e.: CMS, IDPH, APIC, CDC, etc.) to ensure the highest degree of quality care and safety will be encouraged at all times. The Coordinator will work closely with all Rochelle Community Hospital staff and providers to educate on infection prevention and control practices and establish policies and procedures to promote infection prevention and quality of care.
Position Requirements:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
• 3-5 years clinical experience
• Skilled in data collection, data analysis and data display
• Experience in office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc)
• Ability to perform complex and varied tasks in a fast-paced work environment subject to stress and interruption
• Previous experience in infection prevention preferred
• Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing
• Ability to present education and report information that is developed
• FEMA ICS training 100, 200, 700, 800, 300, and 400 (upon hire)
• Certified in Infection Prevention and Control

Essential Functions (Responsibilities/Accountabilities):

1. Collects infection prevention data, conducts analysis, and prepares reports for infection prevention measures
2. Conducts rounding to ensure proper isolation and preforms case investigation.
3. Participates in and coordinates committee meetings as assigned (Infection Control Committee, MDRO Committee, Emergency Preparedness Committee)
4. Conducts medical record review for infection prevention surveillance
5. Round on Med/Surg floor to investigate isolation procedures
6. Coordinates infection prevention reporting activities
7. Investigates potential infections and outbreaks
8. Investigates and reports reportable diseases
9. Guide planning for Highly Infectious Disease response
10. Stay current with best practices including hand-hygiene, personal protective equipment, and other prevention methods
11. Communicates effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary team
12. Provides education and training related to infection prevention activities
13. Implements processes to ensure compliance with state, federal, and local laws and accreditation standards
14. Support Occupational Health in reporting vaccinations, investigating employee illness, and decision support to prevent the spread of disease
15. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
