The School of Design in the College of Art and Design at the Rochester Institute of Technology invites applicants to apply for a tenure-track position to teach in the School of Design. We are seeking candidates who are well-rounded designers with an expertise in motion design. Ideal candidates will possess the ability to provide leadership and vision in integrating motion design into the Graphic Design, New Media Design and Visual Communication Design curriculums. Candidates should be qualified to teach throughout the curriculum. Ideal candidates will also bring diverse perspectives and experiences that contribute to a broader understanding of design and how contemporary social and professional environments are shaping our practices and understanding of the field. Expectations include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate studio and lecture courses; participating in innovative teaching and curriculum development; rendering service to the school, college, university, and community; career advising and mentoring students; and participating in professional organizations important to the field of design.

Department/College Description
THE DEPARTMENT:
The School of Design is comprised of five undergraduate programs, three graduate programs, and the Vignelli Center for Design Studies. University Archives, the Vignelli Center, and the Cary Graphics Arts Collection house a world-renowned collection of design artifacts that are core to research and primary resource educational treasures. The undergraduate programs include 3D Digital Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, and New Media Design. The graduate programs are Visual Communication Design, Industrial Design, and Integrative Design. Approximately 750 undergraduate and 90 graduate students are enrolled in the School of Design. Our faculty are recognized scholars and practitioners in the fields of design and our alumni are leaders at the most dynamic and recognized design-related companies, as well as being recognized with prestigious awards from Adobe, AIGA, GDUSA, IDSA, Paperboard Packaging Alliance, and Society of Typographic Arts. THE COLLEGE:
RIT’s College of Art and Design is the university’s creative hub where art, design, science, and technology intersect in our +200,000 sq ft facility. We are a dynamic and professional arts and design community comprised of 2,000 students (UG and Grad), nearly 140 FT faculty, 60 creative staff, and a number of professional part time faculty, all of whom contribute to our college’s ecosystem. The College’s four schools offer programs in Art, Design, Crafts, Film and Animation, Photography and Photographic Sciences. Required Minimum Qualifications
• MFA in Graphic Design, New Media, Visual Communications, Animation or a terminal degree in a related field of study.
• Minimum of two years professional experience in motion design and/or a related design field.
• Teaching experience in motion design and/or a related design field.
• Demonstrated expertise in motion design.
• Demonstrated expertise in any of the following areas: typography, graphic design, narrative storytelling.
• Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following areas: 3D design, compositing, interaction design.
• Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the College’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
