Administrative Receptionist (New Port Richey)

We are in need of a receptionist for the busy Ophthalmology practice in New Port Richey. Our ideal candidate is sincerely patient-focused and possesses a kind, caring personality. A collaborative team environment ensures that our patients receive individualized care in a professional setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
– Answers all incoming calls with the ability to handle multiple lines.
– Schedules patients in the EMR system. Cancels/reschedules appointments according to physician schedule changes.
– Greets patients and visitors into the practice in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner. Obtains all appropriate forms as required.
– Obtains demographic and insurance information. Obtains a copy of the patient’s insurance cards and ID.
– Register all new patients into the system. Prepares and organizes new patient records.
Notifies the medical staff of patient arrivals—assists in preparing records for the next day’s appointments.
– Collects co-pays, deductible, and other out-of-pocket amounts at the time of visit (or later if necessary). Issues receipts if necessary.
– Comforts patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties; answering patients’ questions.
– Follow policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the office.
– Assures the readiness of the center for each working day; opens the center at the designated time and have all front desk activities fully operating at the start of business hours. Maintains a clean work environment.
– Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations in dealing with fellow employees, supervisors, and physicians so that productivity and positive employee relations are maximized.
Additional skills and abilities:
– Personality and demeanor to deal with the public and older patients.
– Ability to clearly and concisely speak.
– Excellent telephone skills and etiquette.
– Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
– General knowledge of standard office equipment, such as computers, fax machines, and photocopiers.
– Good sense of organization.
-Strong administrative experience preferred.
Education and/or Experience:
– High school graduate or equivalent.
– Prior experience as a medical receptionist and/or clinical setting is preferred.
– Excellent computer skills.
– Hours 32-40 per week.
