SaintA Hiring For Family Preservation Specialist at Milwaukee, WI  Full Time

Job Purpose:
Family Preservation Specialists use evidence-based assessments and services to improve family functioning for clients in SaintA’s child welfare program. The Family Preservation Program works with families that have children placed in out of home care and families that have children in their home, and they collaborate with the SaintA child welfare case manager to ensure for child safety and well-being. The Family Preservation Specialist consistently delivers high-quality direct services including support, guidance, visit coaching, mentoring, and education offered to parents who are receiving supervised family interaction sessions, parenting skill building interventions, basic home management, and life skills services.

Duties:

• In collaboration with Family Preservation Supervisor, appropriately utilizes assessment information to establish relevant, strengths-oriented treatment goals that are in line with primary goals of child safety and improved family functioning.  Utilizes consultation with Supervisor to ensure that progress towards treatment goals is maintained and updated every 90 days at minimum. 
• Consistently delivers high-quality direct services including support, guidance, visit coaching, mentoring, and education offered to parents who are receiving supervised family interaction sessions, parenting skill building assistance, basic home management and life skills services;  examples of these services include, crisis management during family interaction sessions; mediation and negotiation between family members; and basic parenting education and intervention. 
• Clearly and effectively advocates for the needs and interests of families who are receiving supervised and unsupervised family interaction sessions through the Family Services Department.  Maintains an accurate assessment of family strengths and areas of need during family interaction sessions and one on one meetings with biological parents and represents those needs when making recommendations to purchasers.  
• Assesses family progress and proactively initiates increases or decreases in contact frequency, service provider goals, etc. 
• Communicates clearly and effectively with supervisor and purchasers regarding recommended changes to contact plans and treatment needs for Clients. 
• Consistently empowers parent to have safe and relationally rich interactions with their children.
• Provides accurate and professional documentation of family interaction sessions and one on one Client meetings in progress notes, quarterly summaries, discharge summaries, and other paperwork. 
• Performs transportation/driving services for client/children who are participating in family interaction sessions when needed and follows all laws, rules, and regulations while driving. 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Social work or related degree required
• Experience in child welfare settings and in-home work preferred. 
• At least three years’ work experience in child welfare or social service setting.
• Ability to lift and carry young children and car seats.
• Valid WI driver’s license and a personal vehicle that is available for daily use.
• Vehicle must be able to accommodate at least two children in car seats. 

Position Details:

• Full-Time
• Flexible Schedule based on the needs of the Clients in the program.
• Evening and weekend hours required
• Milwaukee County and extensive community involvement.
• On-call responsibilities
