The EHS Specialist will provide partnership as a technical expert providing compliance specification and recommendations to site leadership in relation to Environmental, Safety and Health. They will incorporate company-wide division and industry specific initiatives into proactive and documented management systems. In addition, this role will drive site execution of tactical and strategic initiatives in order to identify hazards and mitigate associated risks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports entire entire employment lifecycle with emphasis on retention, benefits and leave of absence administration.
Lead and support in the onboarding of new Team Members as well as offboarding activities.
Monitors and ensures timely communication to and submission of employment changes.
Partners with the business unit to identify and develop HR plans to support business strategy.
Acts as change agent with focus on supporting and engaging team members to lead and develop strong culture.
Support and lead company-wide and division initiatives.
Supports leadership team with annual performance management process.
Assists with employee absence management (e.g. STD/LTD, FMLA, Workers Compensation).
Design and focus approaches to streamline processes and procedures.
Tracks, manages, and reports on varied HR actions, metrics and tools, e.g. headcount, attrition, contact list, exit interview statistics.
Update and maintain data in HRIS System.
Other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources Management, Psychology or equivalent combination of education and experience. SPHR or PHR certification an asset, preferred.
2-3 years of relevant professional experience, including high-volume, benefits and leave of absence administration within a manufacturing setting, preferred.
Professionally engaging with Team Members, providing best in class experience.
Personable, high energy individual that is passionate and enjoys working in a fast paced, dynamic organization.
Must be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and work through undefined situations.
Thorough knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to recruitment including local, state and federal employment regulations e.g. OFCCP.
Must possess strong leadership, problem solving and analytical skills, must have the ability to demonstrate strong reasoning and strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence others.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Required to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) used at all times (steel toed boots, safety eyewear, hearing protection and long pants)
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud, proper PPE will be made available.
The environment temperature varies from wet and dry, high heat condition, and extremely cold conditions. Employee must be capable of working within these conditions.
Some outdoor exposure is required.
