The E-Waste Coordinator plays an important operations role for the San Jose Conservation Corps’ Zero Waste unit. The Coordinator is responsible for maintaining internal records and managing several E-Waste databases. Additionally, the Coordinator is required to audit all E-Waste data to ensure accuracy in our reporting to CalRecycle. The Coordinator also provides operational assistance to the E-Waste Team to ensure that our business clients, special events, residential routes, and high-rise collection event work plan goals are executed. The Coordinator also works to develop effective relationships with R2 recyclers, provides partnership assistance to the Operations Manager of Zero Waste, and leads all partnered amnesty event work. Additionally, they play a lead role in engaging with members of the public, especially those communicating with us via email. This position will oversee SJCC’s efforts to divert E-Waste from landfills, as well as related programs aimed at increasing the recycling of E-Waste.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative
Responds to all E-Waste emails within 24 hours and cc’s Operations Manager of Zero Waste in all emails.
Creates Google master calendars to facilitate internal organization and attendance tracking;
Creates E-waste binders for logs and routes;
Distributes paychecks;
Locks up Berger site when necessary;
Other duties as assigned.
General E-Waste Operations
Coordinates with haulers for on-site E-waste pick-ups;
Tracks E-Waste collection data for residential, business, and amnesty events;
Completes all E-Waste logs;
Completes DTSC yearly reporting;
Provides quarterly collection totals of CEW and non-CEW material and other CalRecycle reporting pertaining to E-Waste;
Assists the E-Waste Supervisor and Crew Lead in warehouse management and supervision.
SJCC Partnered Amnesty Events
Leads partnered amnesty events with the goal of completing 1 partnered amnesty event a month;
Develops a contact list and designs outreach protocol for potential partners;
Meets with at least 2 potential partners monthly to highlight SJCC E-Waste services and promote partnered amnesty events;

SJCC Business Clients
Upholds Tri-Valley Partnership Agreement;
Assists the E-Waste Supervisor and Specialist with the E-Waste business calls, with the goal of enlisting at least 25 business clients;
Ensures that each scheduled SJCC business route has at least 4 stops;
Completes SJCC business routes and TVR routes;
And other duties as assigned.
SJCC Residential Routes
Assists the E-Waste Supervisor, Crew Lead, and Specialist with prepping residential flyers;
Assigns residential route for E-Waste Supervisor to complete;
Designs SJCC residential routes with the goal of collecting as much material as possible;
Completes SJCC residential flyering and pick ups;
And other duties as assigned.
SJCC High Rise Events
Assists the E-Waste Supervisor and Specialist with outreach, with the goal of enlisting at least 2 high rise events a month;
And other duties as assigned.
SJCC E-Waste Pilots
Leads all E-Waste pilot data collection and reporting;
Ensures that all pilot projects are completed in line with partnership agreements;
Ensures all reporting is completed and submitted on time;
And other duties as assigned.
SJCC Zero Waste Saturday Events
Gathers and reports all CEW material data collected on event days;
Offers warehouse organization and management assistance to E-Waste Supervisor and Crew Lead to ensure all event material is organized;
And other duties as assigned.
Leadership & Mentorship
Manage, supervise, and lead the day-to-day engagement of corpsmembers in project work;
Implement skills training and facilitate intentional discussions and informal lessons to contribute to the corpsmembers’ personal growth and group dynamics;
Promote individual corpsmember development and a healthy, supportive community;
Follow and enforce all SJCC policies, maintain professional boundaries, and appropriately represent the San Jose Conservation Corps.
General Project Management & Implementation
Train and motivate a crew of young adults to complete recycling projects safely and efficiently on SJCC campuses and at partner locations;
Delegate project work to SJCC corpsmember;
Think critically to resolve issues and solve problems;
Communicate effectively and coordinate logistics with project partners, corpsmembers, and SJCC staff.
Safety & Risk Management
Monitor and support the corpsmembers’ physical and emotional safety during work hours, while implementing any work project;
Ensure corpsmembers are wearing proper uniforms and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
Exhibit strong situational awareness & promote a culture of safety;
Transport corpsmembers and equipment safely in SJCC vans or large vehicles;
Follow SJCC COVID-19 Mitigation protocol and ensure corpsmembers do the same;
Conduct daily inspections, cleanouts, and maintenance of vehicles;
Regularly review the Corpsmember Handbook and maintain familiarity with all policies;
Report incidents to management immediately and appropriately.
Administration and Team Communication
Participate in weekly Zero Waste Staff and E-Waste Team meetings and other convenings as requested, coming prepared to report on key updates and personal progress;
Complete attendance tracking, daily and weekly reports, corpsmember evaluations, disciplinary action forms, incident reports, etc., and submit in a timely and highly detailed manner;
Track all project-related outcomes and deliverables, such as collection weights and quantities;
Use Recycle iQ and Corps iQ to track team progress and key project data;
Check in daily and submit comprehensive End of Day Reports daily;
Contribute to an organized and high-performing workplace.
