Registered Dietician/Nutritionist
The Sangamon County Department of Public Health is seeking applicants to perform duties pri- marily for the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program.
The successful candidate will perform a variety of duties for our clients including nutrition assess- ment and counseling; providing referrals; and promoting breastfeeding support and nutrition edu- cation. The position involves direct client contact and is performed in accordance with state and local agency WIC policies and procedures. The applicant must have the ability to communicate with diverse families, develop rapport and foster open communication. The applicant must have the ability to work 1 late day (7:00 p.m.) per week. On rare occasions, in the event of a public health emergency, this position may be required to work evening and/or weekend clinics as as- signed. Excellent communication skills, dependability, a cheerful and professional personality, data input skills and ability to multi-task are all important and necessary skills for this position.
Requires a current State of Illinois Registered Dietitian license or a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition Sciences, Dietetics, Community Nutrition or Public Health Nutrition, a valid Class D
Illinois Driver’s License, use of personal automobile and proof of auto insurance. Applicants must be a resident of Sangamon County or be willing to move into the County within 6 months of employment.
This position is covered by the AFSCME #3738 union.
Work Hours: Monday-Friday 3 days from 8AM– 4:30PM, 1 day from 8AM-
7PM, and 1 day from 8AM-1PM
Salary & Benefits: $50,605.83 yr/$25.9517 hr; 2 weeks paid vacation, 3 personal days,
12 paid sick leave days and 12 paid holidays per year. Individual and family health, dental and life insurance options, retirement, and mileage reimbursement.
