Sanofi has recently embarked into a vast and ambitious digital transformation program. A first step to this transformation was bringing all IT, Digital and Data functions under a Global Chief Digital Officer reporting to Sanofi’s CEO. The new Digital organization has now finalized a 3-year strategy that will drive business growth and reduce cost via efficiency.A cornerstone of this program is the acceleration of the digitalization of the research and development (R&D) processes and the continuous improvement of its R&D tools and other solutions. The acceleration of the adoption of digitalization, automation and advanced data analytics and machine learning solutions is indeed widely anticipated to help the corporation’s R&D organizations to gain differentiating insights and make better, data-driven decisions, to de-risk and to accelerate its end-to end R&D processes and, ultimately, to bring better drugs and vaccines faster to the market and therefore improve and save more lives.In this context, Sanofi is recruiting a Digital product owner – Research, reporting to the Research and CMC Product Line Leader.Position SummaryThe Digital product owner for Global Research is key role of the Research & CMC Data Product Line which is part of the Global R&D Data Products organization and will be responsible to develop and execute the vision of set of products supporting Global Research. Sanofi has an ambitious Research transformation initiative focused on discovery, large molecule research, mRNA Platform, Vaccines, Small molecule, CMC as well as Precision medicine. The Product owner owns the entire lifecycle of the set of product/s from idea through explore, validate, grow, sustain and eventually retire. (S)he is a key decision maker and accountable to the business for delivering value to their customers. (S)he conceives, defines, tests, delivers, monitors, refines and withdraws digital products to maximize business results. (S)he conducts customer research and works with key stakeholders across business, Enterprise Data and Enterprise Technology organizations to develop and deliver the product to achieve the business objectives.Key Responsibilities:Product Strategy, Vision & Business Management• Works closely with key business stakeholders in the Research and CMC functions to define and communicate the product vision and roadmap in alignment with broader organization goals. Ensures Product strategy alignment with Digital Architecture guidelines and Data strategy• Creates requirements and Jira stories, manages backlog refinement and drives features prioritization effort. Contributes to the definition and to maintain the Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) to help ensure that the solution meets relevant regulations, standards and other system quality requirements,• Defines KPI and value proposition and act according to impacts (Continue, Adjust or stop).• Is responsible for release definition, deciding when enough value has been accrued to warrant a release to the customer.• Drives adoption of a products-based Digital R&D data organization for the product lines within scope of the position.• Ensure that Digital Products/computerized systems meet all controls to address applicable quality, regulatory (Data Privacy, GxP, SOX, etc.) and cybersecurity requirements.Team Management and Ways of Working• Builds and manages a cross functional team. Collaborates with Pod Core team daily, providing guidance, addressing ambiguities, and being readily available when issues arise that could delay the delivery• Defines and works closely with the appropriate cross-functional team of data scientists, data engineers, software engineers, and other product development team members needed to successfully deliver on the product vision.• Has the responsibility to challenge, prioritize and negotiate with the Business and/or the Digital partners towards Product vision.• Works closely with the central Digital Data organization to align on architecture, priorities, technical capability needs and roadmaps, and delivery of product components.• Builds, leads, and mentors a team of product owners and product team members that will drive execution and delivery of the broader product line strategy and vision• Minimum Required Skills: o 5+ years in digital Product managemento Experience managing or coaching product teams and driving adoption of agile/product-development practices in a large Enterprise setting.o Deep understanding of the Life Sciences Research and CMC business processes and data/data applications.o Strong understanding of software engineering, data analytics and insights, big data and cloud architectures/technologies (AWS services, Databricks, Knime, Dataiku, etc.)o Expertise with data management and software engineering practices, architectures, tools/technologies and delivery managemento Excellent oral and written communication.o Presentation and organizational skills, interpersonal skills to ensure efficient relationship with all stakeholders.o Proven ability to communicate and present effectively to senior leaders, cross-functional and cross-organizational teams.o Proven ability to lead, collaborate and influence teams without direct authority.• Minimum Preferred Skills:o Working Knowledge of:• NGS data and informatics pipelines enabling automated processing/analysis of large NGS workloads.• Digital Pathology & Imaging data analysis• Proteomics & additional mass spectrometry-derived data (metabolomics, lipidomics, etc)• Large & small molecule research technologies• mRNA therapeuticso Integration of Research and CMC data• Technical Skills:o AWS/Azure serviceso Big Data architecture and tools (Informatica, Python, R, Databricks, etc.)o Software engineering architecture and tools (React/Angular, API development, Python, Javascript, etc.)• Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent, Certifications in Product Management/Agile preferred• Language Requirements: (where applicable)Sanofi Inc. and its U.S. affiliates are Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action employers committed to a culturally diverse workforce.
