The Town of Scarborough is seeking a full-time Network Operations Manager to join the Town’s Information Technology (IT) team. This position is responsible for the management and maintenance of the Town and School networks based on standards established by the Director of Information Technology.
Primary responsibilities include designing and maintaining the network and telecom infrastructure to meet/exceed performance and lifestyle objectives and designing and maintaining the local, remote and cloud-based segments of data system architecture. This position configures, upgrades, optimizes, monitors, manages and maintains numerous network and data center infrastructure (i.e. servers, storage, security devices, routers, etc.), end-user infrastructure (i.e. workstations and mobile devices), network software, disaster recovery infrastructure, voice-over-IP telecommunications system, and remote access technologies. Duties also include ongoing preparation and maintenance of documentation for network and data systems and end-user operating procedures, coordinating with external vendors, and coordinating with the Director of Technology & Information Services on the cybersecurity program for the Town and School district.
Position requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Science or other related technical discipline highly preferred. MCSE and/or CCNA certifications strongly preferred. Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with Windows Server Administration, VMWare, Cisco gear and VoIP, as well as extensive knowledge of computer hardware and software capabilities and limitations. Minimum six years of experience with technical design, planning, implementation, practices and procedures. Minimum two years leadership experience at the technical team level, specifically in the areas of data center, network, resource management and budgeting. Excellent technical, analytical and project management skills; strong interpersonal and leadership skills in a team-based, multi-org environment; excellent written and oral communications skills. The equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the Town’s discretion.
