Role Overview:
The Manager of Warehousing & Logistics is a new position being created to drive optimization of their Logistics strategy. This will include utilizing Lean methodologies to improve product flow and optimize layouts, as well as setting a systems strategy to improve overall functionality. The manager will oversee a supervisory team of direct reports. In addition to the campus, there are handfuls of small inventory locations across the US and Europe, and several temporary storage locations at current project sites.
Responsibilities:
Create world-class warehousing and logistics capabilities focusing on supporting our manufacturing operations and our customer facilities.
Drive towards a future state of:
• Efficient use of warehouse space (space planning; storage systems)
• Effective tracking of equipment, devices, materials, and commodities from original to intermediate to final locations.
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels in a dynamic project-based environment (schedules change frequently).
• Execute a timely disposal of excess or obsolete materials.
• Real-time receiving and storage.
• Timely and safe shipping using total cost of shipping (cost, risk of loss, time)
• Accurate, real-time reporting
• Accurate valuations for owned and customer inventories.
• Continual staff development.
• Steady improvements using well-reasoned, long-term thinking.
What is being warehoused:
• Manufacturing equipment, devices, materials, and commodities inventories.
• Manufacturing equipment, devices, materials, and commodities work-in-process.
• Manufacturing equipment, devices, materials, and commodities finished goods.
• Equipment, devices, materials, and commodities temporarily stored for further shipment to projects.
• Equipment and devices being commissioned and tested for further shipment to projects.
• Excess equipment, devices, materials, and commodities returned from projects.
• We have a significant amount of customer-furnished equipment and devices including US government-furnished equipment guided by regulations and commercial controls.
Types of storage:
• Sensitive: storage of equipment, devices, materials, and finished products to be shipped to sensitive facilities.
• Non-sensitive: storage of equipment, devices, materials, and finished products to be shipped to non-sensitive facilities.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
• Relevant warehousing, inventory, and distribution experience.
• Strong leadership skills and experience managing a team of reports.
• Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and WMS / ERP systems.
• Solution-oriented problem solver.
• Strong communication skills to employees, vendors, customers, and other executives.
