We are looking for a Director of Construction with similar values and beliefs who can translate his or her expertise and skills to our building initiatives. Experience with new construction practices will make you an excellent fit for our team. You will be responsible for overseeing multiple projects at once through a Production Manager and Superintendents and communicating directly with our senior management team.

Our Director of Construction must be confident, driven, and a self-starter with strong communication skills. They must also be proficient in understanding residential construction systems, processes, and procedures. We are seeking a building professional with fast paced high quality residential construction experience to oversee a team that will be getting the digs, ensure that homes are built with attention to quality and exceed homeowner satisfaction. This position plays a key role in ensuring our homes are completed safely, on-time and on-budget. Reports to Vice President of Construction.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Guide multiple digs and multiple teams at once with no decline in quality control operationally in each phase including pre-construction, construction, and closeout.
• Responsible for staffing, positions within construction team so that well-qualified, high potential employees are hired and maintained.
• Responsible for recruiting, hiring, and training new local vendors in conjunction with our Purchasing department.
• Develop and maintain client and industry relationships reinforcing Sedgewick Homes commitment to continuously addressing client needs and interests.
• Communicating the client’s expectations to the project team.
• Collaborate with Sales, Drafting and Purchasing in the up-front set up of projects to insure profitability, client satisfaction and the best subs for the job.
• Ensure construction teams skills and capabilities are always being developed through training and education.
• Promote a collaborative philosophy with all subcontractors, vendors and project team members.
• Create an agenda for and lead weekly Production meetings.

Qualifications and skills

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is preferred
• 5+ years’ experience in new construction and in a supervisory capacity
• Knowledge of construction technology and computer operations
• Strong negotiating skills
• Risk assessment/management
• Administrative policies and procedures
• Conceptual planning ability, specifically introduction of innovations and cost cutting procedures
• Leadership ability
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Meeting and presentation skills
• Multi-tasking ability
• Bilingual a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
