Summary – Central Scheduler
The role of a central scheduler is one that requires attention to detail and an eye for efficiency. They are responsible for scheduling the work of their entire organization. This role must take into account many different factors when planning out the schedules, and they must do so in a way that meets the needs of all parties involved. This position works with the managers for various hospital departments, including Acute Nursing, Skilled Nursing, Emergency, Imaging Services, Respiratory Therapy, Laboratory, Clinic, and others as needed to fill open shifts and correctly put out schedules to the staff. The scheduler receives routine functional guidance from the House Supervisor and Chief Nursing Officer concerning scheduling needs. Attention to detail is required, as is the ability to concentrate on many details during other activities. The scheduler works to communicate with staff and has the authority to fill open shifts for hospital departments according to the schedules they provide. This position will also work with managers to search and fill traveler contracts and will liaison with the Housekeeping Supervisor for staff and traveler housing needs. The scheduler will follow very specific protocols in scheduling according to District policies and the Union Memorandum of Understanding.
