Leads a team of dedicated Project Managers. Manages, coaches, supports and develops Project Managers in managing projects according to defined Project Management policies, guidelines, programs and standards.
Position currently has 30+ personnel within the department both in Orlando FL and other select locations in the USA and reports directly to the Head of Projects.
- Responsible for all New Unit project logistics and transportation activities in North America.
- Responsible for supporting Service logistics and transportation activities in North America including the inbox.
- Develop and implement a transportation strategy for North America.
- Direct activities related to assuring all components are delivered on time and within budget.
- Develop capital plans, assure funding and implement spend.
- Assure pre-sales quotes are accurate and delivered on-time.
- Develop and implement a communication plan that keeps all required parties informed.
- Plan, organize and manage the work of the logistics staff.
- Work closely with internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Develop and implement a strategy/plan to provide Logistics Field support at key locations including ports and DCs.
- Manage the Ft. Madison load building activities including off-site storage locations.
- Manage Hutchinson rail activities and crane.
- Assure project schedule requirements are supported in all planning and implementation activities.
- Promote safe work activities throughout the transportation cycle including work in the ports, component storage and lay down areas, during road transport and during transport activities at the site.
- Oversee the development of work instructions and procedures needed for the transportation & logistics cycle.
- Facilitate the purchasing and maintenance of transport equipment to support the component fabrication process, movement and storage.
- Assure all Siemens Gamesa policies, procedures, goals and objectives are followed.
- Develop and maintain transportation financial forecasting and scorecards that align with the requirements of the monthly project reporting.
- Develop and implement monthly forecasting for internal team budgets and assure all budgets are closely monitored and that spending is consistent with or below the approved budget.
- Conduct/Coordinate employee training sessions on transportation & logistics topics.
- Recommend and manage capital equipment spend for transportation & logistics.
- Guide team to develop cost-out ideas and track implementation of the ideas.
- Work closely with other internal departments in N. America region and Europe based Corporate functions to assure project success
- Support all employee activities including target setting, evaluation processes, hiring, etc.
- Additional tasks as required.

Skills Needed
- In-depth knowledge of logistics operational processes and logistics planning/analytics.
- Strong work ethic, accountability and follow-through
- Effective planning and strategic thinking
- Five to 10 years of direct transportation/logistics work experience
- Previous experience in a multi-national company
- Previous experience defining and implementing strategy
- Strong financial skills
- Ability to provide meaningful presentations to all levels of management and employees
- Team player
- Proactive and decisive leader
- Results-driven with high sense of urgency
- Excellent communications skills. written and verbal
- Expertise in Office
