HOST/HOSTESS JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Host/Hostess
REPORTS TO: Restaurant Manager
BASIC PURPOSE: The Host/Hostess presents a positive first impression of Skye Lounge friendliness, excellent service and high standards. The Host/Hostess also greet Guests upon arrival, inform Guests of their wait time, monitor a waiting list, enter Guest names into the computer system, show Guests to their table and bid Guests farewell as they leave. The Host/Hostess gets the game started at the door.
ORGANIZATIONAL SCOPE: The Host/Hostess must be able to carry natural conversation with Guests without sounding scripted or intrusive. Additionally, the Host cares for our Guests by refilling beverages and performs light housekeeping duties such as cleaning glasses and menus and ensures restrooms are clean, stocked and orderly.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Ensure all tables are properly set before seating guests.
2. Use visual cues to seat Guests in either the bar, dining area, café, or lounge depending on their preference.
3. Inform Guest of who will be serving them to ensure a smooth handoff to the service staff.
4. Maintain seating chart for rotation of stations.
5. Greet and seat guests properly and issue menus once the guests have been seated.
6. Answer phone properly and follow all reservation procedures.
7. Organize and maintain a clean service podium.
8. Help dining room staff by setting and clearing tables; replenishing water; serving beverages.
9. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
10. Perform all sidework duties according to sidework schedules
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Maintain an inventory of needed supplies.
2. Ensure all menus are clean before shift.
3. Be familiar with hotel facilities and their location and hours.
Knowledge and Skills:
Education: Ability to read and write English.
Experience: One year costumer service experience

Physical Job Requirements
· Lifting objects, pushing, pulling and carrying tables, chairs, trays, plates, and chafing dishes on a daily basis
· Ability to regularly pick objects up from the floor
· Pushing and pulling carts is required.
· Mobility : Full mobility is required in order to properly inspect the working environment and maintain our working environment standards
· Chemicals/Agents : Around normal cleaning products in the Restaurant
Hours Required: Flexible; scheduled days and times may vary based on need
