LOCATION: SMCP NORTH AMERICA HEADQUARTERS, 44 WALL STREET, NYC

We are currently seeking a Director, Store Planning + Construction to ensure the correct development of all aspects of the new store construction projects and renovations and maintenance to existing stores. The Director, Store Planning + Construction is also responsible for contracting and managing external consultants and vendors including local architects, engineers, contractors, direct vendors and responsible to handle and monitor costs, scheduling and quality of projects throughout the entire process of planning and construction and lifecycle of the store.

Store Planning

• Lead, manage and coordinate all architectural and construction projects and activities involved with the renovation and/or creation of all new free-standing and corner stores, from layout design to construction completion and turnover
• Establish contact with landlord’s team to obtain drawings, timeline, guidelines and all other necessary start up information
• Coordinate with the Paris design team for architecture and design related decisions
• Responsible for all bidding, qualifying, negotiating and awarding of general contractor bids and all related vendor proposals.
• Coordination of all consultants involved with a project
• Plan and lead procurement strategies to ensure enough material and millwork stock is available for planned projects.
• Source new vendors and partner with existing ones to provide millwork and materials for new store design concepts.
• Visit construction sites and prepare reports (from layout to punch list completion and turnover) to ensure quality of building construction and millwork installation, identifying outstanding issues and ensuring appropriate follow-up
• Responsible to ensure projects are closed out within the given time frame with the required close-out information and sign-offs.

Budget Monitoring and Control

• Monitor Capex and Opex budgets for Construction and enhancements to ensure the department’s expenditure is under budget.
• Responsible for cost tracking of construction and enhancement projects, including review and approval of all project related invoices
• Coordinate with Finance to track budget expenses and coordinate monthly closing

Who you are:

• A store planning professional with at least 8-10 years’ work experience; having previous experience working with luxury retail and department stores is a plus
• A graduate with a bachelor’s degree in architecture or a related field
• Proficient in AutoCAD
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel and Powerpoint; advanced Excel skills strongly preferred
• Someone who enjoys solving problems, even when the solutions don’t readily present themselves
