Solar Energy Solutions (SES) is seeking an expansion minded and entrepreneurial sales and marketing leader for its residential, community and small commercial sales activities across its seven operating states. This new role has been created to continue and accelerate the explosive (400+%) sales performance that SES has produced these past 5 years. The successful candidate will be asked shape the strategy and execution of SES’s next growth phase in our core markets of Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio and to spearhead new market entry and sales layer launches in Illinois, West Virginia, Virginia and Tennessee. With 15-years of solar experience in our region, 2500 operating PV and battery systems and a clear recognition of SES being the category leader we need an ethical and people focused professional to help us step-change our growth.
Responsibilities:
· Managing all regional sales staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
· Maintaining regional sales staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
· Establishing sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products
· Own and hit/exceed annual sales targets within assigned territory and accounts.
· Maintain and evolve product and service pricing strategies to effectively hit needed company margin and profitability standards
· Develop and execute strategic plan to achieve sales targets and to expand the company’s customer base
· Identify and close sales opportunities in accordance with the Company’s overall strategic plans and financial objectives.
· Actively pursue direct sales leads with installers, distributors, investors and utility companies.
· Assist with forecast of revenue on a regular basis and review sales results to ensure that established targets are being met; take corrective action where required
· Nurture the relationship with leading PV and utility project developers at multiple levels to ensure that SES remains the EPC of choice
· Define and improve the product portfolio by regularly gathering feedback from customers, business partners and by closely monitoring industry trends.
· Develop and manage an annual product marketing and communication calendar for all sales territories
· Direct digital advertising spend and strategy through the Marketing Coordinator
· Successfully execute a brand and messaging strategy and act as an external evangelist for SES
· Direct routine community solar campaign (Solarize/SUN) bidding, management and networking
· Participate in regional trade association and governmental affairs activities to support solar and SES growth
Requirements:
· A minimum BA/BS degree. Masters Preferred.
· Minimum 7+ years’ experience in solar and energy storage sales.
· Ethical, technical and environmental approach to selling solar
· Proven management skills leading a team of outside sales members.
· Solid and verifiable track record of overachievement.
· Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level.
· Demonstrated success with contract negotiation based on LCOE modeling.
· Candidates should have a verifiable record of successfully growing market share with a proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.
· Strong selling aptitude with the ability to understand the technical workings of the SolarEdge product line and convey the advanced technical product benefits to potential customers in easy-to-grasp business terms.
· Proven track record of identifying, negotiating/converting and closing large dollar deals.
· Ability to identify and convert new accounts while maintaining existing relationships.
· Demonstrated success in operating effectively in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, complex, rapid growth environment.
· A distinct customer service focus.
· Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
· Proficient using CRM systems
· Experience with travel and managing remote location employee
· Strong understanding of and ability to coach sales staff in technical and electrical aspects of solar and energy storage installation
· Strong computer skills, including CRM basics and Microsoft Office programs
· Familiarity with common solar design software and tools (HelioScope/SunEye)
· 5-year clean driving record
· Ability to pass a 7-year background check
