Medical Collection/Billing Associate Responsibilities:
We are looking for strong individuals with excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to analyze and problem solve. The right candidate has knowledge and understanding of medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT codes. Experience with medical collections, but we are willing to train the right person with previous relevant experience. Follow all departmental policies and procedures. Essential functions: Daily follow-up on unpaid patient balances. Collecting past due balances via phone and written correspondence Contact patients to pursue account resolution, explaining and reviewing account activity with patients, extending payment options and collecting payments. Processes all incoming and outgoing correspondence as assigned Review and manage the overall health and status of patient accounts. Helps facilitate interoffice communication on error and denial trends Researches credit balances and initiates refunds as required Answers Accounts Receivable phone inquiries. Respond patient inquiries promptly and with excellent customer service and telephone skills. Ability to maintain confidential information Ability to provide attention to detail and prioritize work Ability to collaborate with others to arrive at a conclusion using compromise, persuasion, rational Ability to make sound and timely decisions Ability to work independently with little supervision Skill of developing and maintaining positive working relationships with our patients and co-workers. Maintain acceptable call quality and meet deadlines, as determined by the Manager. Document all collections activity in a concise and accurate manner in the billing collection system. Assist in special projects as needed. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: High School or Equivalent (GED) required Associate’s degree in Business Administration/Healthcare Management preferred * Three to Five years medical billing/cash posting experience required. * CPSS/OCS certification is required * Knowledge of Medical Terminology, CPT and ICD-10 Coding, Electronic Billing, and HIPAA
