The School of Psychology, Sociology and Rural Studies invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology position with a start date in August 2022. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible, nine-month position. We are seeking applicants with a specialization in behavior analysis, clinical psychology, or forensic psychology. Principle responsibilities are teaching, research, mentorship of undergraduate students, and service. This faculty member is supervised by the Director of the School of Psychology, Sociology and Rural Studies.

The School of Psychology, Sociology and Rural Studies, established as of July 1, 2021, is committed to providing a supportive and dynamic teaching and research environment that equips and inspires faculty and students to learn, create, and apply knowledge in psychology, sociology, and rural studies. Our academic programs include undergraduate majors in criminology, psychology, sociology, and a Masters in Sociology with specialization in community development. Our minors provide study in criminal justice, mental health services, psychology, social and human services, sociology, and youth and community work. Teaching specializations are available in both psychology and sociology.
As the state’s 1862 Morrill Act land-grant institution, the work of the university is carried out on its main resident campus in Brookings, at sites in Sioux Falls, Pierre, Rapid City, and Aberdeen, and through Extension offices and Agricultural Experiment Station research sites across South Dakota.
