A leading chemical production and contract manufacturing organization is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Logistics Specialist to join their growing Operations team.
This position will be responsible for supporting and implementing processes for efficient internal product movement, as well as building a strong freight and warehouse network to ensure inter-company, inter-plant and customer shipments are as efficient as possible. You will provide assistance on transport planning for domestic, import and export operations, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with 3PL and freight forwarder vendors. A core KPI will be customer satisfaction (internally and externally) in relation to OTIF delivery, as well as the enhanced use of SAP to improve processes and transparency.
Your role will comprise vendor management, freight and warehousing, inventory reconciliation, general supply chain support, SAP utilisation, certification, and providing assistance to Planning. Vendor management will see you preparing and submitting requests for new vendor records, managing POs for external warehousing/ storage suppliers, and invoice approvals. Freight and warehousing is a core component of the role, which will require you to manage the flow of raw material and finished goods for both US and international location shipments. All of this must be effectively tracked and processed in SAP, with regular supplier evaluation to ensure timely delivery and troubleshoot any other issues.
Relationship-building with the company’s preferred 3PL providers is critical. You must also collaborate closely with colleagues at other company sites to support production schedules and order fulfilment across the wider organization. You will coordinate annual inventory reconciliations with 3rd party suppliers, and report/ monitor results through SAP. The successful candidate should maintain up-to-date knowledge of domestic and international freight trends, SAP developments, and Dangerous Goods certifications.
