This position provides administrative support for the day-to-day Human Resources processes including benefit administration, records management, regulatory and compliance requirements, recruitment and employee relations for the Alaska locations. Partners with managers to support and coordinate employee development and training efforts. Incumbent is the primary contact for Alaska based employees regarding questions on employment, benefits, and Company policies. Responsible for maintaining all employee and department files and updating records in the HRIS system to ensure records are kept in compliance with all regulations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Manages the day-to-day recruitment function for all open positions based in Alaska.
· Responds to inquiries from internal and external customers regarding employment and benefits in accordance with CBA’s, SPD’s, and company policies. Assists with changes in payroll and benefit actions, including VOE’s, status changes, service awards, pay rate increases, and benefit status for new and transfer employees.
· Drives local wellness program including presenters, incentives, eligible participants; coordinate with corporate health, financial and wellness programs, and track activities. Supports Company functions and safety programs. Plans and organizes employee activities such as service award banquet, flu shots, lunch and learns, etc.
· Assists with recruitment and employee actions. Prepares new-hire packets, conducts orientation, and coordinates onboarding activities with other departments (safety, SQE, neighbor islands). Documents employee changes and acquires all needed approvals to ensure compliance and enters employee changes in HRIS.
· Maintains all filing systems including employees, I-9, medical, disability, etc. with utmost confidentiality. Create and maintain employee records. Ensures new hire documents are completed and filed in accordance with applicable laws. Track and file compliance training, performance evaluations and confidential employee records. Partner with managers on suggested training activities, development opportunities, and secure resources.
· Provides administrative assistance to employees, TPAs, benefit providers, and auditors on eligibility, enrollment, and participation. Coordinates distribution of required notices to employees for various benefit plans.
· Assists employees with Leaves of Absence criteria, and processes and tracks FMLA paperwork in accordance with State and Federal regulations. As needed, completes workers compensation documentation and files with insurance carrier and safety manager. Processes doctor’s notes and disability slips for medical leaves and workers compensation claims. Generates LTD notices and processes documentation.
· Maintains Company bulletin boards. Distributes company information as appropriate.

Technical Requirements/Competencies:
Special Certifications/Licenses
Education and Experience:
· College degree preferred or equivalent experience
· Total of 5+ years’ experience in a Human Resources role
· One to two years of payroll experience preferred
· Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position

· Position is not Supervisory in nature
