The design assistant provides administrative and clerical support to members of the creative team, including those responsible for branding, marketing, design, media outreach, and message development.
Accountabilities:
Works with lead designer and other designers to fulfill new client project needs.
Participate in design projects from concept (initial consultation or “brief”) to completion
Document with clear and detailed notes
Attend presentations, document with clear and detailed notes
Weekly project review with team and individual project leaders
Assist in analyzing design objectives (scope & schedule) in accordance to clients’ needs
Provide input in creation of design concepts
Perform market research work in a bid to understand industry trends
Interpret and translate client needs into rough plans creating full scale presentations using PowerPoint, 3d floor plans, hand sketches, and story boards
Order samples from vendors and handle presentation creation activities
Assist interior designers with sample selections
Confer with clients for additional information as needed
Create specification schedules such as interior surfaces, lighting, and paint
Provide administrative support to interior designers
Create and maintain project spreadsheet costs and projects fees according to budget
Maintain knowledge of space planning, floor plans and elevations
Manage design libraries of resources and maintain files and binders
Assist interior designers with installations, coordinate deliveries and handle post installation follow up activities
Check in receipt of merchandise and sign for packages
Assist interior designers with marketing developments
Provide support in creating sourcing materials for various projects
Act as a bridge between interior designers, vendors and contractors
Assist in handling communication with clients through telephones, emails and official letters
Complete order information by filling out order forms and handle payments and receipts
Assist in photo shoots, descriptions, and cataloging of finished projects for personal and Company portfolio
Maintain continuing education
Teach/assist design team with 3D space/floor planning, utilizing computer software programs
Attend factory tours, learn vendor specific building abilities
Attend sales rep studio visits for line training
Assist in antique sourcing, either online or in person
Identify and schedule attendance to relevant tradeshows, markets, learning seminars
Review, mark, and catalog industry publications received by Company
Assist in studio floor sets, maintaining a client ready image
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
This is a high-stress position based on assisting in Spider Lake Trading operations. Handles detailed, complex concepts and problems, balances multiple tasks simultaneously, and makes rapid decisions regarding administrative issues.
Establishes strong and appropriate relationships with the staff, and clients. Develops smooth and constructive relationships with executive colleagues, outside agencies, organizations and individuals.
Plans and meets deadlines. Maintains a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of the business. Hours may be long and irregular. Travel is required for this position.
Conveys a professional and positive image and attitude regarding Spider Lake Trading.

Must be able to travel for brief and extended periods of time for company sponsored site visits, workshops, exhibitions, and trade shows
