The person in this position will provide assistance to the Finance Director and other Fiscal Services staff by performing data entry of invoices, preparing and posting journal entries; and monitoring receipt of and recording accounts receivables. Additionally, the Staff Accountant will assist with reconciliation of agency balance sheet accounts and performing budget entries into the agency’s accounting software system. As needed, this person may also be tasked with collecting data for and preparing reports and working on finance projects, including agency-wide audits, as needed.
Qualifications:
· Associate degree with a major in Accounting or Business Administration preferred. Additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a two-year degree.
· At least 2 years’ experience in an accounting or equivalent position.
· Experience in fund accounting and working with state and/or federal funding sources in a non-profit organization preferred.
· Demonstrated ability to work with computers and related software, including word-processing, spreadsheet applications, database and computer peripherals.
· Demonstrate ability to plan, organize, schedule, and manage multiple, complex tasks.
· High degree of organizational skill and accuracy
· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information and records
· Ability to perform duties below with a minimum of supervision
· Good communication skills.
Responsibilities:
· Generates timely and accurate financial states and reports to meet program and Agency deadlines.
· Demonstrated ability to use MIP financial software
· Prepare posting of journal entries
· Develops and prepares internal and external reports and require or requested
· Assists Program Directors in preparation of program budgets
· Responsible for data entry of invoices, purchase orders, and weekly receipts.
· Assists with reconciling balance sheet accounts
· Updates review, and adjusts agency general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and program budgets as necessary.
· Assists with the Agency-wide budget and audit process
· Prepares information for budget and expenditure analysis.
· Other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements:
State Bureau of Identification criminal record and driving record checks must be satisfactorily completed prior to starting employment. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and properly insured, reliable transportation. Other requirements include ability to sit/stand for long periods of time. Must conduct all business with funding agencies and vendors in a helpful and professional manner. Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding any access to client or agency information.
