THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Orange County Employees Retirement System (OCERS) is seeking a Staff Specialist to meet the needs of performing duties related to external and internal communication efforts. The position is responsible for assisting in planning, preparing, organizing, and implementing a variety of special projects aimed at providing information and service to members and stakeholders on retirement and related resources. The incumbent will disseminate critical information to OCERS members and stakeholders through a variety of innovative strategies which may include videos, social media, online Q&As, and community outreach events.

Three years of experience which would demonstrate the knowledge and abilities defined above. Successfully completed accredited college or university courses in a discipline used in government programs (including, but not limited to, information systems, business or public administration, urban planning, communications, psychology, etc.) may be substituted for the experience requirement on the basis of three semester units or equivalent equaling three months of experience.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES:
The ideal candidate will have three (3) years of extensive practical experience in public relations, marketing, communications, or public affairs.
OR
Successfully completed accredited college or university courses in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or Marketing which may be substituted for the experience working in public relations, marketing or communications requirement on the basis of three semester units or equivalent equaling three months of experience.

Qualifications Appraisal Panel | Oral Interview:
