is recruiting for a flex Microcomputer/Network Technician 1/2 located in Juneau!
What you will be doing:
This position will be responsible for answering help desk calls and responding to tickets, troubleshooting customer issues remotely and in-person, set up of new machines and take down of old machines, migrating customer profiles, troubleshooting new setups with customers.

The Division of Administrative Services provides centralized information technology support for the department. This position will be the department’s system administrator and lead a team responsible for all line of business infrastructure. The department’s information technology section is a group of highly-skilled, innovative IT professionals who maintain positive, collaborative work relationships that support the section’s continued growth. The IT section is highly valued by department and division management.

This position is located in our main offices in Juneau on the 9th floor of the State Office Building. Our office has recently-updated furnishings and is centrally located in downtown Juneau.

Information Systems/Network Security: Knowledge of methods, tools, and procedures, including development of information security plans, to prevent information systems vulnerabilities, and provide or restore security of information systems and network services.
Infrastructure Design: Knowledge of the architecture and typology of software, hardware, and networks, including LANS, WANS, and telecommunications systems, their components and associated protocols and standards, and how they operate and integrate with one another and with associated controlling software.
Technology Awareness: Knowledge of developments and new applications of information technology (hardware, software, telecommunications), emerging technologies and their applications to business processes, and applications and implementation of information systems to meet organizational requirements
Minimum Qualifications for the Microcomputer/Network Technician 1 Position:

Training or experience that developed customer relation skills, knowledge of a variety of desktop applications, and/or knowledge of networking concepts.

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in
Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Training or experience in some combination of providing customer service response, diagnosis, resolution, and/or escalation of end-user issues with information technology hardware and applications; installing new computers, printers, and other peripheral devices; and/or loading and troubleshooting software and hardware systems, maintaining security software, and configuring network settings for workstations.

“Competencies” means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation.
“Typically gained by” means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. The level of the job offer will be based on the selected candidate’s credibly possessed and proven competencies. If hired at the lower level, you will be promoted to the higher level after successfully completing the training plan and demonstrating competency in the work.
