The Motor Vehicle Investigation Unit (MVIU) serves to prevent fraud concerning the use of driver’s licenses, identification cards, motor vehicle titles and registrations and other motor vehicle documents issued by the department and to assist victims of identity theft by means of such documents.
The MVIU is seeking a Criminal Investigator I to join their team in serving and protecting the Colorado public and to foster an ethical and safe industry within the state. This position is responsible for investigating criminal and administrative violations concerning fraudulent activity against the Division of Motor Vehicles. The position serves to deter, identify, reduce, investigate and prevent fraudulent activity as it relates to driver’s license, titles and motor vehicle records. The position is responsible for working assigned cases as well as being proactive in identifying new trends and fraud schemes of this type of fraud.
Through acceptable investigative practices and procedures the position serves to deter, identify, reduce, investigate and prevent fraudulent activity as it relates to driver’s license, titles and motor vehicle records. As a certified Peace Office, (P.O.S.T.), this position exists to fulfill statutory responsibility to administer and enforce appropriate Colorado’s laws in a consistent and common sense manner.
