The Department of Health, State Laboratories Division has 1 (ONE) urgent vacancy.

Salary: $2,933 to $3,566 per month (SR-10, Step C to H)
Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant’s qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Duties Summary
Laboratory assistants perform non-professional laboratory work requiring a practical knowledge of laboratory functions and services; and the ability to apply standard laboratory tools, methods and procedures to the service needs of the particular laboratory. These positions provide support and assistance to professional laboratory personnel.
Positions at the III level assist microbiologists, medical technologists or other professional personnel in some phases of technical laboratory work; prepares standard to difficult reagents, solutions and culture media used in laboratory tests; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Experience: TWO (2) years of progressively responsible laboratory work experience which has provided the applicant with a practical knowledge of laboratory functions, apparatus and equipment, methods and procedures, and tests. Applicants for the Laboratory Assistant III must possess at least ONE (1) year of experience comparable to the next lower level.
The lower level Laboratory Assistant II prepares standard solutions, reagents, and culture media for use in the conduct of laboratory tests; and/or makes routine examinations of laboratory animals; and performs other related duties as assigned.
