Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Substitutions
Six years of full-time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree.
Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows:
A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
College credit earned without obtaining a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for a maximum of four years full-time work experience towards the baccalaureate degree. Candidates with 120 or more semester hours of credit, but without a degree, must also have at least two years of full-time work experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
A master’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, management, public administration, agribusiness, animal science or husbandry, or veterinary science will substitute for one year of the required general experience.
Note
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

To manage all Prison Enterprises operations at correctional facilities within a designated region, or to manage all logistical operations for Prison Enterprises.

Broad direction from the Prison Enterprises Assistant Director 1-Agriculture or from a higher administrator.

Job Distinctions
Differs from Prison Enterprises Farm Manager by responsibility for management of all agricultural operations within a designated region.
Differs from the Prison Enterprises Assistant Director 1 – Agriculture by absence of responsibility for management of all Prison Enterprises agricultural operations.
Examples of Work
Farm Functions
Plans, coordinates, and supervises Prison Enterprises Agricultural operations within a designated region through subordinate supervisors by frequent on-site inspections, production reports, and consultations.
Authorizes and reviews validity of specifications and necessity of requisitions for the purchase of equipment, raw materials, and supplies required for the production of products by various industrial agricultural operations.
Inspects each agricultural unit to insure utilization of proper production techniques that affect established standards of quality and quantity.
Confers with the Prison Enterprises Agricultural Director to plan new agricultural and expansion of existing agricultural operations.
Researches and evaluates feasibility of agricultural products for correctional facilities within a designated region.
Compiles information on products produced and updates the Prison Enterprises Products Catalog.
Performs frequent and/or daily inspections to ensure all facilities and products are in compliance with federal and state laws and the regulations set by the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Health, and ACA/ACI Standards.
Relieves any subordinate under his or her supervision, operates equipment, or works livestock.
Logistics Functions
Manages the overall planning, coordination and supervision of the Logistical Operations.
Defines operational strategies and directs operations of Property Control, Purchasing, Sales/Marketing, Central Warehousing, Transportation, Maintenance, Heavy Equipment and Construction.
Authorizes and approves requisitions for equipment, materials and supplies.
Reviews and evaluates work of subordinate managers.
Prepares the annual operating budget for Logistical Operations.
Confers with unit representatives regarding inmate work assignments, inmate transfers, etc.
