Duties in this position include but are not limited to: being aware of and having knowledge of the Director’s viewpoint in relation to sensitive and difficult situations and issues. Preparing and editing routine correspondence and reports; and taking meeting minutes. Assembles information from files, documents, newspapers, and other available resources for use by the Director, office staff, and others.

Perform all secretarial services and management assistant activities for the District Manager. Timekeeper for the District Office, provides secretarial services for the Social Services Division Administrator 17, a Family Independence Manager 15 and a Social Services Administrative Supervisor 12. Type all confidential material for District, including performance reviews, grievances, etc. District Administrative Hearings Coordinator and liaison with Bureau of Administrative Hearings.

Two years of administrative support experience where use of a personal computer to prepare correspondence, reports, charts, etc., or to enter/retrieve/update information is an essential part of the work, including one year equivalent to 6-level administrative support experience.
Secretary E8
Three years of administrative support experience where use of a personal computer to prepare correspondence, reports, charts, etc., or to enter/retrieve/update information is an essential part of the work, including one year equivalent to experienced-level administrative support work or equivalent to a Secretary 7 or Legal Secretary 7.
Secretary 9
Four years of administrative support experience where use of a personal computer to prepare correspondence, reports, charts, etc., or to enter/retrieve/update information is an essential part of the work, including two years equivalent to experienced E7-level administrative support work, or equivalent to a Secretary 7, or Legal Secretary 7.
OR
Four years of administrative support experience where use of a personal computer to prepare correspondence, reports, charts, etc., or to enter/retrieve/update transactions is an essential part of the work, including one year equivalent to advanced 8-level administrative support work, or equivalent to a Secretary E8, or Legal Secretary E8.
Additional Requirements and Information
The office location for this position is at 41227 Mound Road, Sterling Heights however, this position has the ability to work hybrid (combination of remote and office). Selected candidates who have been approved to work hybrid must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.
This position will be filled at the Secretary 7, 8, or 9 level depending on the preferred candidate’s qualification.
Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:
A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
