Missouri Veterans Home – Warrensburg is actively hiring for Administrative Support Clerk – Medical Recods.
Schedule: Monday – Friday 7am – 3:30pm.
Rate of pay: $1050.00 Semi-Monthly
REPORTS TO: HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGER
OVERTIME STATUS: CATEGORY 2
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE;
Assist with collection of data, analyzing clinical records, handling releases of confidential information. Assist with admission and discharge recording, collection of statistical data, preparing related reports.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Eligibility for classification of Office Support Assistant on the Missouri State Merit Register.
STANDARD REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrate knowledge of and promote Veteran rights, including but not limited to the right to be free of restraints and free of abuse. Promptly report incidents or evidence of Veteran abuse or violations of Veterans’ rights.
- Follow dress code guidelines as per MVC policy and procedure.
- Approach duties with a positive attitude and constructively support open communication, dedication and compassion.
- Maintain effective communication with Veterans, families and facility staff.
- Adhere to all established facility and commission policies and procedures.
- Promote positive employee relations.
- Participate in individual training plan as required.
- Work wherever needed within the department and facility.
- Ensure privacy of all protected health information to which he/she may have access, ensuring records are properly secured at all times.
- Apply objectives from offered training
- Perform duties in a safe manner minimizing the risk of on the job injuries.
- Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and respond accordingly.
- Demonstrate understanding of the mission statement of the Missouri Veterans Commission Homes Program. Exhibit a willingness to work as a team member in carrying out the mission of the organization. Facilitate implementation of care systems, i.e., falls, infection control, quality management programs, etc.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all tasks, which may be found in positions of this class.)
- Assist with collection and compilation of data for statistical reports by manual or automated systems for use by administration, medical staff, other departments, and governmental agencies.
- Assist in maintaining systematic flow of clinical information to and from all departments of the facility.
- Assist with retrieval of information and preparation of reports for administrative and professional staff.
- Respond to request for clinical information in accordance with facility policy and procedures.
- Follow policies and procedures designed to assure confidentiality of health information.
- Audit medical records for qualitative and quantitative completeness based on facility policy and accreditation standards.
- Maintain records for discharged Veterans in an organized fashion according to professional standards.
- Prepare discharged records for long term storage. Assist with destruction of discharged records according to government regulations and facility policy.
- Assist with preparation of records for presentation in court in response to subpoena duce’s tecum, serves as a witness as required.
- Initiate medical records for new admissions/re-admissions, as assigned.
- Assist with oversight and or coordination of visits for health care professionals ensuring appropriate documentation is entered into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Assist with maintenance/data entry of electronic health record, to include but not limited to: scanning of paper records, initiation of medical record for new admissions/readmissions, icon identifier management, provide census management oversight, etc.
- May assist with assigning and managing EHR access levels for employees, health care professionals and surveyors.
- Will assist in maintaining required hard copies of Veteran’s information as directed
- May assist with scheduling Veterans clinical appointments.
- Maintain Veteran confidentiality.
- Provide reports, lists and worksheets as needed.
- Lift and/or move materials, as necessary, in the performance of assigned duties.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of computer and programs utilized by the facility.
- Perform manual electronic data entry.
- Answer phone in a courteous and professional manner relaying accurate messages.
- Adhere to infection control procedures as trained.
- Respond to internal and external disasters such as fires, tornados, etc. in order to protect Veterans, staff and property.
- Arrive to work on time and when scheduled, minimize unscheduled absences and schedule sick and annual leave responsibly, as established by Commission policies.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Work weekends, holidays, evenings, and nights as needed.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Participate in the care planning process as directed.
- Educate staff on confidentiality issues and use of medical record software.
- Assist with orientation and educational programs for facility personnel in those phases of medical records applicable to their field of work.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Physical requirements and activities include: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
