About the Team
SWIB is seeking an HR Generalist to be a high functioning and strong contributor to the HR team to meet the needs of our fast-paced and growing business environment. The HR Generalist is key in the integrity and maintenance of our employee data and recordkeeping and they serve as a utility player on the team. They provide customer service to all employees and serve as a resourceful point of contact. They will manage multiple priorities and projects at a time and be able to successfully manage the complexities of our data and processes. In addition, they should enjoy working with data and systems and have an eye for detail. They are flexible in their mindset, pivot effortlessly to manage priorities, are approachable, open to change, and have a positive outlook. They will also put in discretionary effort to meet deadlines and solve problems while working collaboratively to ensure strong communication across the team and organization.
Position Overview
Essential activities:
Administer our new employee orientation and onboarding program and is responsible for the timely and accurate collection and review of documentation.
Administer our HRIS to include new hire set-up, personnel changes, employee terminations, and report writing. Enters and maintains required data into the State’s HRIS, PeopleSoft.
Manually track, monitor, and execute employee change events.
Responsible for maintaining, tracking, and producing HR data such as turnover reporting.
Process employment verifications and unemployment insurance requests.
Responsible for personnel file management and recordkeeping including I-9’s.
Updates organizational charts using Visio.
Assists in answering employee payroll, benefit, and attendance questions.
Establishes and maintains engaged and constructive relationships with employees and management.
Prepares and distributes correspondence, data, and reports as required.
Prepares employee communications and presentation materials.
Ability to write and maintain effective procedures.
Administer agency’s service award and online mentor program.
The ideal candidate:
Overall post-degree work of 0-3 years of Human Resources experience, which may include internships.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, or related field.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing employee relations practices preferred.
Ability to demonstrate the highest level of confidentiality and integrity, building trust with the business and employees.
Ability to handle a significant workload that includes complex processes, data sources, and systems and produce timely, accurate results.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to build positive relationships and demonstrate strong customer service skills.
Possesses a strong work ethic and is willing to put in discretionary effort to meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and ability to apply critical thinking skills to ensure accuracy of data produced.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Writes effective employee communications.
Curious and proactive; resolves issues with a sense of urgency; willingness to take on challenges and projects; detail-oriented with the ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize, and produce results.
Strong technical skills and must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Exposure to Visio also helpful.
Ability to interpret HR data and produce presentations and reports that support business needs.
