About the Team
The Portfolio Management Support Team at SWIB supports the investment and trading teams from the genesis of an investment idea through the execution of that idea. This requires extensive skill and understanding of investment strategies, portfolio construction, and how to utilize asset management and order management systems to effectuate the investment lifecycle. The support provided helps SWIB maintain an edge in the ever-competitive world of capital markets, which ultimately leads to successfully managing the funds on behalf of the beneficiaries and other stakeholders.
The Portfolio Trading Analyst is responsible for supporting portfolio managers and the trading team with order generation, order management, and trade execution systems and workflows. This includes assisting portfolio managers with order entry issues, FX hedge management, future/forward position roll processes, rebalance and transition processes, and strategy/trade tagging tasks. The role is also responsible for assisting the trading team with trade blotter construction and maintenance, trade blocking and program trade issues, execution and allocation issues, and other trade execution support tasks.
Position Overview
Essential activities:
Work with Portfolio Managers and Analysts to understand their processes and workflows.
Interface with Investment Management, Operations, and Technology resources, both internal and external of SWIB, to ensure investment and trading team needs related to portfolio management and execution are continuously and proactively being met.
Research investment management techniques to help drive SWIB’s capabilities forward through maintaining a high degree of awareness of common industry-specific trends.
Provide assistance, facilitate discussions, work through issues, provide guidance, and forecast portfolio management and trade execution needs on behalf of the investment and trading teams.
Support Portfolio Manager order generation, derivative roll processes, FX order generation, etc.
Support rebalance and transition coordination, target model load, order generation, and program trade building.
Support strategy tagging, trade tagging, and other portfolio construction data and processes.
Support and maintain portfolio management and order management system UI configurations.
Monitor and proactively resolve portfolio management and execution system issues, interfacing with internal and external teams/resources as needed.
The ideal candidate:
Bachelor’s Degree required. Finance preferred.
7+ years of investment management industry experience, with a focus on the portfolio management/trading lifecycle preferred.
Experience with trading systems (SimCorp, Charles River, etc.) strongly preferred.
Knowledge of the global investment industry’s operational and functional capabilities.
Understanding of global investment industry strategies, processes, and technologies.
Ability to document and communicate procedural and/or technical knowledge effectively.
Ability to envision solutions, communicate those solutions, and help form tangible outputs from those conceptual solutions.
